First time being there and the bar area is beautiful and the restaurant's nice. It seemed to have great promise. The waitress was pleasant, the restaurant was not very busy and yet our drinks took over 20 minutes to come which should have been an indication of what was about to happen. We put in our order with our appetizers and right after we did I saw a large party going to a back room. The appetizers were very slow to come 25 minutes and were good. Then 45 minutes later we had to alert someone that we still had not been brought our food. They came over and told us: Oh well...umnm we didn't really lose your order and the pork chop takes a while to make... but we had a big party and whatever... And desserts were going to be comped.ok. About 15 more minutes later they brought our dinners. Well, two of our dinners. Then about 3-4 minutes later the other two of us got our dinner... I mean if you're trying to make it up, why not bring the dinners all at once. Two of our meals were very good- the risotto and the tacos. My son got the pork chop which was incredibly dry and had a sweet seemingly off the shelf barbecue sauce on it. The sides were delicious. My wife had hanger steak ordered medium rare that came barely cooked. Even though they were aware this was a bad experience. The manager never came over and spoke to us, and even after that the attentiveness was lax let's say. I feel this is a breakdown of teaming table service which always has the potential to be bad... This was just a breakdown all around and then compounded by the food being pretty poor and the manager never coming over. I don't think we'll ever be back. They did make the effort to comp our appetizers and the dessert which we actually didn't really want but ordered anyway. We didn't order anything remarkable and we left the restaurant 2 and 1/2 hours after we arrived. You might have...
Read moreWe gave Slate 3 tries, and all 3 were a swing and a miss at the Slate! On our first visit, we sat next to a couple of women who let their children run wild like they were at a Chucky Ceese pizza parlor. The kids were literally jumping on the bench next to us, so we asked to be seated elsewhere. We were taken to a high top table in the bar with wobbly tables and chairs. We decided to go elsewhere. We gave it a second try on our anniversary dinner. We were seated outdoors next to a large party that was supper loud and obnoxious...we gave it no mind, were just here to have an enjoyable dinner. Our server came to our table maybe 3 times, once to get our order, then to drop off our drinks, then to ask us how everything was with the check. She spent her entire time catering to the large party and ignored us! On our last visit we had the same waitress and I think she recognized us from our previous visit. She put on a great face, but the service just wasn't there. We ordered a meal that came with a spiral cut whole potato, which was burnt to a crisp on the exterior and still frozen on the inside. We stopped her to let her know, and she said she would fix our order. Another employee came out and dropped off cold mashed potatoes... Our server never came by to see if everything was OK! Sorry, Slate, but we won't be back, and by judging how dead it was in there on Saturday night, I don't think I'm the only one that...
Read moreHad been wanting to try this place for over 2 years. We didn’t make reservations for Saturday so we sat on the patio, which it was very warm, romantic and cozy. Our drinks were tasty and presentation was great. We ordered the filet to crustini to start. I would have prepared it differently because you have a long crispy crustini and a chunk of filet right on top. You would think to bite a crustini but with the chunk of meat it makes it awkward. But the arugula/bruschetta mix under the crustini was very tasty!! I ordered the salmon mango roll which was well presented and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the 8pm filet with the red wine thyme shallot compound butter. Completely disappointed with the taste of this plate for $52. For $52 plate I expect a tasty product. The steak had no flavor, compound butter was right out of the fridge so it didn’t spread well, had no flavor of thyme or shallot, just the bitter red wine flavor with a hint of shallot and no salt. Mashed potatoes were average but the asparagus was great. But the steak plate was missing crucial flavoring which is why I gave 2 stars. For the plate I would have paid $20. It was cooked perfectly to his choice of medium well. I was really disappointed in his plate and he wouldn’t let me say anything. The service was ok and the bathroom was extremely heated and smelled like...
