Twisted Oak Tavern — Restaurant in Camarillo

The wife and I wanted to give this place a try because we liked the options featured on the menu. As an early Valentines Day and Superbowl night, we headed here. The restaurant along with the bar, gives this place a GastroPub feel. Tonight, we tried the deviled eggs as an appetizer, the Sriracha ketchup and hash brown underneath gave an interesting crunch to go with the soft eggs (8 out of 10). The wife had the Peanut Butter and Jelley Burger. The blackberry jam balanced nicely with the burger and peanut butter. It was definitly unique, and would be orderd again. She recommended they use pulled pork instead of the burger patty, just like a familiar food truck in the area "Scratch" used to do (8 out of 10). I had the Mac n cheese Burger. They have an appetizer of Mac n cheese balls, I think what they did here was just use one of them to throw on top of the burger. I'd recommend they use breaded Mac n cheese as the bun. Nevertheless, the burger (cooked medium) was perfectly cooked, juicey, and delicious. I had the Sriracha ketchup on the side, as I don't like too much spice on things (7 out of 10). For dessert, we ordered the Crème brûlée and Donut bread pudding. Disappointed, the Crème brûlée sugar top was burned (someone got carried away with the torch). The inside had a soft creme, with vanilla bean flicks (4 out of 10). The donut pudding came a-la-mode, but was a bit dry, nor did it taste like a donut. It actually tasted like chocolate chip bread pudding instead (4 out of 10). Overall, the atmosphere is really nice. There are booths for the couples or families. There is the bar area for the singles or wind-downers. There is even an outside patio area in the back with strung lights, heat lamps and decorations. We'd recommend this place and will be visiting as a family in the near future...

I have been coming here for years since before it even opened when my work had a mini gathering here and congratulated the new owners and even was present the day it opened, and everything was amazing. However, as a repeating customer, I won’t be back for a while because waitress Julie had an unprofessional attitude and approach when concluding business with my dinner group. When it was time to pay, we all gave our payment methods and when she came back with receipts, she said one of our payments with tip “wasn’t enough” and requested more money. When we said all of our tips combined were on the card, she walked away and got another staff member involved to also come over and ask for more tip money and to ask if we were certain. This immensely irritated me because first of all, beggars can’t be choosers, regardless of where you work, second, it was the total wrong approach to come back and BEG for more tip money because she felt it wasn’t “enough” and then get other employees involved and come hound us at our table, and third, a tip is a reflection of service and we had already left a decent tip in good relation to our large bill and we were only checked on once the entire time. I work in a job with tips included and one thing to remember is if you always expect a tip or a decent one for that matter, you are never going to be happy. Just provide good service and have the right attitude and approach to things, simple. So thanks to this one incident, myself and others who have been coming here for years will not be back for a...

I would give you a zero out of five if this site would let me. Britt/Brittany/Brittney was the RUDEST person I have even met. She was rudely talking about me and my guests to the bartender. This fake manager “Amy” said she would rectify the situation, but forced me to still pay my bill. The drinks were sour and not what was advertised (this is false advertising).the food was completely inedible and was not what the menu described. I informed who to correct the situation and all I got was sass and insincerity. The Owner needs to fire all of the staff in the Camarillo location and hire all new staff. You are the worst business in Camarillo and are giving this town a horrible reputation. Horrible staff (except for the host whom was polite). Extraordinarily rude Server and “bartender”. Politely informed manager of the bad experiences and how to correct the issues experience, but the manager didn’t care and still forced me to pay. The owner needs to clean house and start fresh. These are not the kind of staff I would want representing...
