We’ve been to Bella Capri several times over the last few years for various reasons. It looks nice. It is cute, but it is not Chivas Regal. There’s like 10 parking spaces within the facility. Two on the southwest corner “very tight“. Four on the east side of the building again very tight and five on the west side between poles that are quite tight. If you have a larger vehicle, you may have issues. Plenty of street parking is available when most of the stores have closed by 8 PM. It is on Ventura Boulevard, which is very busy during the day quite deserted after 8 PM. Behind the building is a halfway house where there’s quite a bit of noise during the night and the garbage trucks that come pick up trash daily starting at 6:30 AM. ! OK now for the good points ! Water pressure is good ice machine on the top floor and the bottom floor. There is no elevator so be prepared for walking stairs if you’re going up. Remember this is an “Inn” not a hotel ! There’s a wall mounted AC that does provide heat if needed. They’ve done quite a few upgrades to this old building. It does take a little time to get hot water, but you have to remember, In the shower/tub turn the valve all the way to the left and the hot water will be there soon. Beds are comfy, pillows are soft. The rooms are small, so be creative with storing your personal items and clothing. Depending on the room accommodation you purchase you will most likely get a voucher for the café, which is located under the north west corner of the facility. They open at 8 AM and their food is decent. They are walking distance to practically anything you need even the big mall, which is about a mile away to the west. The office staff is very sweet and nice. If you have any issues with noise or obscene disturbances after the office closes at 10 PM you need to call the local police department nonemergency number and they will take care of the...
Read moreAnother enjoyable stay. It had been a couple of years since I’d been to the area. I am happy to report that the staff were all as friendly and helpful as during previous stays here - from the front desk, housekeeping, and management.
If traveling with a dog, I highly recommend contacting Bella Capri directly to be sure you are aware of their dog policy, dog fees & deposit. Other reviews I read sounded like guests weren’t aware ahead of arrival.
I travel with a small dog and have a specific room I like. I was able to request and get that room. It’s a small room with full-sized bed, and perfect when I’m traveling with my small dog. The room has everything we need including a small fridge and microwave. It’s clean and the hotel has old-style charm. The location is safe, and enjoyable for walking my dog both in the early morning and evening.
I appreciate that Bella Capri is dog friendly. For those of you who are traveling with a dog, please be sure to read and abide by the Inn’s pet policies so that they will remain dog friendly!
I personally go beyond in assuring that I leave my room in great condition … so that no one would even know that I’d traveled with a dog. I bring an extra, clean blanket from home to drape on any furniture my dog might get on, plus he wears a full-body slinky (thin dog PJs) to assure we don’t leave any extra dog hair behind. He’s never left unattended in the room, either. Other precautions to consider … if you think your dog could possibly have a potty accident, use a belly band/dog diaper. Keep in mind a barking dog may disturb other guests (leaving a dog unattended, you have no idea if it’s barking).
Thanks again to all Bella Capri staff for another nice stay.
Note: this is a quiet hotel that IMO is best for quiet adults/couples.
Sorry, photos were taken upon check out after my stay … forgot to take...
Read moreWe loved our stay here! Had to stay in or near Camarillo, as we were primarily here to visit a friend - scoured reviews of all hotels/motels in the area. (Reviews do enter into my decisions) Charming street, charming hotel. Inviting lobby and super friendly and helpful reception lady. Parking inside the courtyard and outside on the street - always easy to park! Even when we returned from the Bowl late at night, and the area feels quite SAFE. We had one of the smaller rooms, but it was perfectly fine! We had a refrigerator and a microwave and a coffeemaker. Coffee was provided, but I drove to Starbucks close by, coz - well....Starbucks lol : ) Bathroom tiny but CLEAN! Every inch of our room AND the hotel is CLEAN and neat. VERY important to us. Very responsive staff here too. Bed was comfy, sheets were nice and soft, plenty of pillows. TV went in and out, but no problem, coz there is free Wifi and we watched our iPad. One morning we got up at 430 for an early appointment, and the water in the shower would not heat, and maybe it was because it's a vintage hotel and it takes a while for the water to heat - anyhow, there's an emergency number, we called it - and voila! Hot water soon after. Shower had great pressure, very comfortable, and we liked the soaps etc provided. Very nice restaurant on the ground level - had breakfast there twice. Pancakes and bacon YUMMMM! Marc, manager, very very nice and helpful. Everyone here was great. We will return, and maybe get one of the suites. Highly...
