Horrible experience here! So on family vacation and we were staying near by at the Sonesta craving sushi and found this place. We called to see if we needed to make reservations, we would be arriving at 8 and the lady on the phone said no need to, they weren't busy. Okay, we walk in the door at 7:55 and immediately sat. Our server took drink orders and we immediately ordered 3 California rolls. He also says something about he needed to get our dinner order but we didn't want the food all at one time, we wanted to course our food. No problem he says and proceeds to ring out food and drinks. Sushi shows up about 5-7 minutes later, when it does we order an Avocado Salad. Honestly we tore up the California Rolls and raved about how amazing it was and hadn't had sushi that excellent in quite some time. Avocado Salad shows up. During this time my I had to take my 11 year old to the bathroom because the hotel we stayed at pool water was overchrolinated and her eyes we hurting her. So the hostess and another young woman are at the hostess stand and we walk past them, one of the girls inquires where we are going. We aware her we are headed to the bathroom. Thought it was strange that she asked bc that is the only room down the hallway but whatever. Next what happens is beyond me but both girls followed us in the bathroom and we are flushing my daughters eyes with water. Neither one of the servers or host are using the bathroom...they are just staring at us. So we ask if they need to use the sink and one of the girls sucks her teeth at us and says no. So we are confused as they stare at us then tells us it's getting late? We are confused. A few minutes later we are totally uncomfortable and leave the bathroom. Both girls immediately follow us out. My 11 year old says she wants to leave the restaurant they are making her feel uncomfortable. I agreed. As soon as we get back to the table our server is telling us he was supposed to have our order in before 8pm and he immediately needs to take it if we want to eat. I look at my watch it's 8:20 and they door says they close at 9pm. Well everything starts to make since and the girls followed us to the bathroom to harass us. Seriously how ghetto! First of all you work in food and beverage, this is how you make money. If the server would have told us that more in detail that supposedly they are supposed to have in the last food order by 8 pm, we most likely would have left and went somewhere else. Why do the doors say 9pm?!?!?! So upset. We paid the bill and left. Will never return and will be reaching out to this company in more than 1 outlet. Basically we were bullied out. Too bad we loved the sushi and was looking forward to the...

The place is great, the food is great, the cocktails are great... everything has been great every time I've been there, except that my most recent "host" absolutely should not be anywhere close to customers. He was rude to the person sitting next to me at the bar, who actually gathered her things and left without ordering after he had walked away, and then he was rude to me, and when I commented that it was a good thing he was not the one getting the tip he got all self-righteous and went to the bartender (who was my waiter) and whispered things pointing at me. Good Lord, really? What about trying not being rude to people for a start. My bartender deserved a big tip, which he got, but I had planned on leaving a nice tip in the jar for the people who prepare the sushi and the host's attitude was so obnoxious I forgot and simply left as fast as possible. Now I'm sad I forgot. Both the food and the drink were truly great.

Also, someone pointed out in a three-star review that her waitress hovered over her while she decided on the tip because everything is done electronically, but I've observed that the waiters leave the tablet where the payment is processed with the customer and say to just leave it on the table when they're done, so in my experience they don't hover over customers. What the reviewer experienced wasn't the norm.

The sushi is truly among the best I've ever eaten and the beverages are top-notch. I highly recommend the place, especially if the host I'm referring to (I won't stoop to providing a description of him because he's highly distinctive and someone among the two of us has to remain classy) decides to reorient his career path toward something that doesn't bring him in contact with customers. The place can get busy, but for good reason. It deserves every single bit of its glowing...

I'm torn; the food was good but the service killed it for me. I went with my family at lunch time on a Sunday. 45 minutes after we say down, one of our two appetizers (edamame--really good, probably not 45 min to prepare!) came out, with an apology for the slowness. 15 more minutes and the other app (crab Rangoon, also really good, but also not something requiring lengthy prep) made it to the table, with a second apology for slowness but no explanation. After another 15 min, the entrees arrived (4 maki and pineapple fried rice). The server was nice if not super attentive. It seemed like the kitchen was inexplicably slow. Fuji's spicy tuna maki is really, really good. We also had spider, dragon, and Philly rolls. The crab in the spider roll was tasty, as was the rest of the sushi. The pineapple fried rice (served in half a pineapple--fun) was flavorful and moist with a good amount of peppers, chicken, shrimp, pineapple, and peas mixed in. I liked the food but 90 minutes for a simple lunch when the restaurant was not at all busy is not ok. I had a previous experience where I sat at the sushi bar alone and got much better service--maybe try that if you're...

Mediocre and overpriced. This was a takeout order. It arrived on time via caviar, so no fault of the delivery service. I ordered an asparagus and cucumber maki, a miso soup, and my S.O. ordered 2 fish rolls. I've attached a photo of 2 of the rolls as they arrived: my asparagus roll which was literally falling apart (as was the cucumber roll) and the spicy yellowtail roll, which was basically at-par with other fast casual sushi for Boston and thus the highlight of the meal. The two veggie rolls were $7.00, and I've had much better in Chinatown here in Boston for ~$3.50 or $4.00 per roll. She also ordered a miss waldorf roll, which was $25 and had 6 pieces flattened into one side of the tray. My miso soup was aggressively small (generously 1 cup), tasted like a mix from food lion, and priced at (of course) $5.75. On the upside, we did get an order of four large fried cream cheese-filled wantons that we didn't order. These were actually the largest thing we received in our otherwise undersized delivery, even coming with some kind of oversweetened duck sauce; unsure how they managed that one!

A slightly upscale sushi spot. It's in Kendall Square, so be aware that parking will likely be tough to find. We ordered the veggie gyoza (6 pieces) and agedashi tofu (3 pieces) as appetizers. The gyoza was pan-seared to perfection and just the right level of crispy. It also came with a single cherry tomato, which was interesting. The agedashi tofu was sitting in a boat of sauce but was still a bit plain. We also ordered the volcano maki (4 pieces) and golden gate maki (6 pieces). The presentation on the volcano maki was great; the tobiko and spicy mayo sauce help make it a pretty colorful dish. The flavor is also significantly affected by the spicy mayo. On the other hand, the golden gate maki appears a bit more muted. The salmon wasn't very fatty so it's a bit plain by itself (without sauce), but I thought it was very good when paired with soy sauce and wasabi. Service was fine; I usually make a judgement based on how many times my water is refilled (which was twice here). Pictures were taken after we started eating, but you can see what parts of the dishes look like.

I'm Japanese, and we visited on a Saturday afternoon. The bento box portions were large, which we appreciated. The sushi was okay—good enough by American standards. However, the staff seemed tired and rarely checked on us. We wanted to order additional dishes and waited a long time, but eventually felt discouraged from doing so. The hot green tea was overly diluted and tasteless. The minimum tip was 20%, which I honestly felt wasn’t worth it, and there was no manual option to adjust it. It’s unfortunate because the atmosphere was great, but we won’t be returning.
