Our wedding reception on board was not only the highlight of mine and my husband‘s life, but other family has told us the same. (To the point that we’re all talking about having a reunion on board again next summer!) We boarded the Valiant and were greeted with the most kind & friendly staff who were there for our every need. The views were absolutely stunning but honestly, a rainy stormy day would have still been just as gorgeous and memorable with this company. The Captain was so sweet, allowing my five nephews on board to take turns steering the boat. The bartenders were so fast and friendly, and accommodated us by making our “signature cocktail” for the evening. We were able to plug in our I-phones and dance the night away to our customized playlist while taking in views of Boston Harbor lit up at night. They also allowed for us to bring as many personalized decorations on board and set up everything for us in advance. Our wedding of 25 immediate family members was the most magical night all thanks to them. I’ll never ever forget looking around at my family, dancing on the most gorgeous luxury yacht (during a PANDEMIC) and feeling such happiness and gratitude for things turning out the way they did. The Charles River Boat Company really gave us the “best day ever” and the other company canceling was the biggest blessing in disguise.
I have to give a special thank you to Cecily, who I jokingly referred to as my angel throughout the process. From the second I met her over the phone all my worries dissipated because it was so evident from the get-go that we were in great hands. I truly don’t think I’ve ever met someone as knowledgeable and professional as she is. She had an answer and solution for every random question or concern, Coronavirus related or not. My family found this so admirable especially during a pandemic in which we’re all sailing uncharted waters, to put a pun on it. Cecily coordinated all of the planning and everything leading up to the day so I was thrilled to find she would be on board with us. The day after the wedding when our family was recapping, it seemed everyone had a different Cecily encounter or story to share; all were nothing but raving reviews of her. To top it all off—when we left our remaining wedding cake on board at the end of the evening, Cecily personally went out of her way to drive it to us on a holiday weekend the following day. She’s a rare gem and I highly recommend trying to work with her!!
Micro wedding or not, Coronavirus or not, book your wedding/event with the Charles Riverboat Company and you’ll have the greatest, most unique, memorable, talked about experience. Your only regret will be that it flies...
Read moreWe arrived on time to take the ferry on Sunday morning July 12, 2015 and we were notified that there will be a 10-15 minute delay for the next ferry because the one we were suppose to get on was over heated. We were given free water bottles which was generous, but I just bought a bunch of snacks and water bottles for myself and my family. So, we got off the line and moved over to the other area where we waited 10-15 minutes and no other ferry showed up. Then, we were told to come back over because the original ferry we were going to take was up and running again. In the midst of all this, we pretty much lost our spots on the line and got seats toward the back of the ferry where there was absolutely no ventilation and I thought I was going to pass out the entire time. My 1-year-old son lost his hat in the Charles River and he was sweating...we were all very overheated and attempting to walk back and forth to get some fresh air, but it just wasn't working. During the ferry ride, as I was standing next to the bar with my husband and my 1-year-old son, we witnessed an older gentleman hanging on to the door as it swung open over the water because it was NOT LATCHED PROPERLY!!! That poor man nearly fell out into the water, but caught himself on the door railing. He barely pulled himself back onto the ferry and him and another gentleman fastened the door latch again. When I looked at the latch, it is NOT secure at all and can easily get caught on someone's pant leg or bag, etc. and unlatch. Also, there were 2 latches, only one of which was fastened (not properly either!!) on either side of the boat. My son could have fallen out into the water or even someone else just leaning on the door to take a picture or something. Luckily, that poor man was holding on to the top railing when the door swung open. I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES! This should NOT be happening and I will never go again. To top it all off, my 1-year-old son ended up in the hospital that night with a...
Read moreWe recently booked a private dinner event onboard Henry Longfellow following our wedding ceremony and brunch reception at Encore Boston. This was was such an incredible way to celebrate in a much more relaxed way with our closest friends and family. Our group onboard consisted of about 25 guests. We had the Lighthouse Dinner Buffet catered by Johnny Burke (CRB's partnered caterer). The food was fantastic and they were absolutely incredible about accommodating allergies. I worked directly with Dayna Linehan at CRB and she handled everything! We are beyond grateful she was our event coordinator - she was so extremely pleasant to work with! She was able to help us work within budget and completely customize our event for us. She responded promptly to all concerns and questions, gave excellent guidance, and checked in with us regularly during the planning process and event. Our captain Rich and bartender Shelby were also so lovely and incredible with our two kids (7yo and 4yo). Captain Rich let the kids take turns at the wheel driving the boat and Shelby took our 7yo daughter under her wing to help make some of the nonalcoholic drinks for our guests! Our daughter absolutely loved it and had a blast "bartending!" My husband and I are already discussing booking another event with the Charles River Boat Company for future anniversaries and family gatherings. We only have the most positive things to say about the company! Thank you to Dayna and the crew that made our day so memorable! We look forward to seeing you...
