A Complete Disappointment. Other positive reviews are questionable.
Arrived around 7:20 on a Friday night. Yes, we expected it to be moderately busy, and it was. About ten people in line, most tables full. The most glaring thing we noticed immediately was how slow the line moved. There is no easily viewable menu, such as on the wall behind the cash register, a common fixture in good barbecue joints, so that those in line can be deciding what to order ahead of time. You could view a menu on your smartphone, or grab one of a couple that were hanging on the wall near the front of the line. Just prior to ordering we discovered they had run out of macaroni and cheese. How? This is probably one of the most popular items at a joint like this, so extra should always be on hand. After 35 minutes in line (again, only ten people ahead of us) We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a Bronco sandwich (brisket, onion rings, Gouda cheese) and a brisket plate (comes with two sides and a piece of Texas toast). We waited approximately 30 more minutes for our food to be brought out to our table. Again, by this time it was no longer busy, so ten to fifteen minutes should have been a reasonable expectation. The pulled pork sandwich came out cold, the pork was overcooked and dry, as if it had been sitting around under a heat source for an extended period. The brisket sandwich and plate also both came out room temperature, dry, and flavorless. The rub on the brisket tasted of too much pepper, not enough other savory seasonings such as brown sugar or salt. The chips and fries both had a seasoning that was mostly paprika, some pepper, no detectable salt or garlic that you’d expect in this mixture. The piece of Texas toast was merely a piece of Texas toast bread, not toasted, no garlic butter…so basically a plain piece of bread. My other side was potato salad, which was nothing to write home about. Just OK.
I have no idea how this restaurant has gotten the reviews that we saw, and how it is #1 in the TripAdvisor site, other than maybe people around here don’t have very high expectations? We can’t recommend this restaurant after our visit. Will not...
Read moreMy family usually loves to eat at Brothers. We recently ordered takeout and even though you can select what time you want your meal, ours was clearly made wayyyy ahead of pickup time. Our salad was warm and wilted and mostly brown. It’s normally very fresh. And the “hot food” was literally cold. The portion sizes we received this time made us laugh. We actually thought we were missing some of our order. But the most upsetting part was how they try to pass chuck roast off as brisket. There is no way what they served us was brisket. The consistency between the 2 is like night and day. It was literally watery and flavorless and full of fat that had been rolled in black pepper. The sampler we ordered is supposed to have Turkey on there as well and there was not a single piece. To pay as much money as we did, we were extremely dissatisfied with the quality we received. If y’all have recently switched cooks, please for the love of bbq, get someone...
Read moreIt was a little confusing when you first walk in as a first time guest; there were no directional signs and we weren’t sure if we should seat ourselves or not. Finally a server came by and instructed us to order at the counter. The do not have a full bar but they do serve a handful of beers; when I asked for a glass of Pinot Grigio i was told they have “red, white, or rosé” wine. It was obvious the young girl taking our order was unfamiliar. No big deal, we ordered and were seated and the food came out fairly quickly. It was almost cafeteria-ish as we had to get our own napkins, condiments and utensils from a station. I judge all bbq (and fried chicken) joints by the napkins. It was prepackaged utensils with napkins so that was a downfall to me. The food was okish/good. Nothing terrible about it but nothing to rave about. The prices...
