Wally's Chinese Kitchen — Restaurant in Canby

We were in Canby on the 4th and decided to try this place instead of Panda Express. Oops!

They did not get one thing right.

Water-City water over ice. Heavy chlorine taste. Turned out to be the highlight of the meal.

Eggs Drop Soup- Didn't taste too awful, but why is it so full of corn?....and chicken? With eggs? Ewwwwwwww!

Pork fried rice-Heavily soy sauced pasty Minute Rice like substance with tiny bits of dried out pork.

Pork chow mein- No noodles at all. Just bean sprouts and a few other unrecognizable veggies with tiny bits of dried out pork.

Sweet and sour pork- Heavily breaded deep fried tiny nuggets of, you guessed it, dried out pork with some very sub par sweet and sour sauce thrown on top.

Sesame Chicken- Tiny nuggets of utility grade chicken very generously breaded and deep fried. No sesame flavor detected.

Fortune cookie-Usual woo woo predictions inside of an unusually stale shell.

I ordered shrimp chow mein. I don't know what I got, but it wasn't chow mein. It was a gross and sloppy mess, just swimming in probably 3 cups of water. It had absolutely no seasoning in it at all. The vegetables, consisting of only a few sliced celery and bamboo shoots were cooked to death, no crispy freshness to them at all. The whole order had only 3 shrimp in it, and they were those little bay shrimp, not the bigger shrimp you normally see in an entrée. Just the color of what I got is disgusting.

They sent cocktail sauce with it for seasoning, are you kidding me?

Very disappointing!

Upon moving to Canby, I was in serious need of some Chinese food. I have seen Wally's sitting here for 20 years, and have never tried it. My husband and I decided it was time, and the only bad experience we received was the fact we hadn't gone in sooner! The food is always piping hot and fresh; the shrimp in their house fried rice is ridiculous! Not only are they huge and plump, but you get so much! Their crab cheese puffs are large, plentiful, and have actual chunks of crab meat in them! Their chow mein is crisp and flavorful; and their sesame chicken is some of the best I've had in Clackamas County. The only downfall to Wally's is the fact they're closed on Mondays.
