When you walk into this place it is so beautiful it decorated with all these bright and vibrant colors. The server we had was attentive and took very good care of us but no matter how much she wanted to help us reguarding the hair in my food she was denied. Her boss trumped her. So I order the burrito Gigante and it tasted amazing all the way up to the 3rd bite where I tried to pull my fork out my mouth and attached to mouth, food and fork was a huge long white piece of hair. FYI My hair & my friend's hair and our waitresse's hair was brown. I called the waitresse over and explained she said im so sorry let me get you another she takes the plate and returns with a sad face stating her boss said he will not remake this without proof of the hair , I said thsts no problem it's right here and grabbed it from the table and she picked it with her hands and took it to the back. Her boss came out and stood at the bar about 3 tables away from me, mind you the resturant has other customers here and he proceeds to say loudly no one here has this hair color I'm not remaking this and walks away, I'm in shock a loss for words , the waitress comes over and is equally as shocked and says I'm so sorry he said it was made with shrimp so he won't be removing it from your bill either. 💔 I couldn't believe it, I took 3 bites of this massive burrito and I was given dirty food, embarrassed in front of a restaurant full of people and was told I won't remake this or remove it from your bill. I have never been treated like this at any resturant in my entire life. I will never set foot in there again. I feel like someone stole my money and treated me like I was the thief! No one deserves to feel like that when they have done nothing wrong. I ended up going to another Mexican restaurant that night bought another burrito and thank God it was a way better experience, the food was delicious. But on top of that I was treated with respect and human decency, which is what Blue Habanero know...
Read moreEdit: This used to be my favorite place. But today I walked in and stood at the podium waiting to be seated for twenty minutes. Not one single person even said a word to me so I left. Why is no one seating people? Or at the very least saying sorry will be with you in a minute. I was on my lunch break so it wasted a whole bunch of time I didn't have. Very disappointed in the service.
Initally I was a little put off because this is the 1st Mexican restaurant I've been to that doesn't automatically serve you a basket of chips. We all know binge eating a basket of chips is the highlight of every meal. However, my opinion was quickly changed once I tried the food. I ordered the quesabirria which came with a side, I chose refried beans. I also ordered chips and cheese. I didn't order salsa so I'm not sure if theirs is any good. I've been a die hard fan of El Campesino's for at least a decade. But, that all changed when I tried this meal. This is now my favorite Mexican spot. The birria was sooo flavorful. Normally I can't tolerate the consumé that comes with birria, for being too spicy. Not here! It had all the flavor without the heat. The beans were good enough to eat alone, but I ate mine with my nachos. The queso was top tier!!! I would happily eat it as a soup. This place is on the pricey side however. People typically associate Mexican restaurants as an affordable option when eating out. I spent 2x as much on a meal here as I would else where. My total was about $20 and I ordered the lunch special. I'm happy to pay that much again though because it tasted so good. The service was also quick and my server was friendly. If you don't mind paying a little more for quality food I'd recommend this...
Read moreWife heard about BH from a freind, we visited last night. Clean place, high ceilings so the inside area seems spacious, abundant staff, service was quick and friendly. Decor is bold, tasteful and creative. Been lucky enough to eat authentic Mexican food in my past and again for our visit to Blue Habanero. Based on the affordable menu prices, I honestly expected lower quality food, but got the good stuff. I got chardonnay, wife got a beer. Glassware wasn't the el cheapo, standard-issue common forgettable glasses, someone spent time picking this style out and got it right. Got chips and queso for starters, chips were fresh & perfectly seasoned, could taste the cream and cheese distinctly in the queso, with just enough Latin American zip to make us both very happy. Wife got the street tacos La Paz, I got the server's recommendation street tacos with a shredded, beef, can't remember the name. Tasted both, they were both fantastic. There are clearly some strong cooking chops back in the kitchen, could taste the attention to detail in everything. Very much looking forward to our next visit.
I wish I could award partial stars as I'd gladly give 4.5 stars to Blue Habanero. Why the deduction? We visited right before sunset, early dinner -- the music volume seemed a little more appropriate for 11pm, borderline loud, it was difficult to hear my wife in conversation and we found ourselves...
