Like many folks, I ended up trying Burrata after seeing the TikTok guy “Sniping For Dom” do a glowing review. What I’m starting to realize is that particular “reviewer” isn’t actually reviewing food. He’s hyping up every place he goes for a cash payment, disguised as a “food reviewer”. So basically he’s producing every place he goes a glorified paid commercial. Keep that in mind if you ever listen to him again. But I digress. That’s not on Burrata. On to the review.
Arrived to find the place, a small corner parcel near Aultman Hospital’s main campus in Canton. I believe this was an Italian spot previously. I grabbed a parking spot and walked in to order. The service was perfectly adequate, answering what few questions I had. She also made a few recommendations.
First thing ordered was the Burrata pizza. This is their showcase pie ($24); and rightfully so. Classic New York style crust (light, thin and crispy) with roasted tomatoes and peppers. Mozzarella and provolone with a garlic oil splashed on top. Giant helping of Burrata cheese in the center of the pie. 9.1/10 DELICIOUS
The gelato ($3 per scoop) was also a great choice. Got the Nutella brownie and pistachio pineapple. Very creamy, sweet, with just enough chunks of cake throughout. A little on the small size, but it was rich enough to be filling. 9.3/10 I also really enjoyed the Italian bread. Light and soft, with a nice crisp on the crust. Each thing we ordered came with a piece, with some real butter included. Not the whipped crap. That always gets bonus points from me! 8.8/10
The sweet garlic dressing was definitely the most memorable of the salad dressings. Sweet, garlicky, light. Everything you want in a sweet, oil based dressing. 9.1/10
Now let's move on to the not-so-great...
We got two different pastas. A fettuccini with the house Alfredo, and a cavatelli with the cream pesto and two meatballs.
The fettuccini ($12) was what you'd expect at any generic Italian restaurant. It was fine, but certainly not memorable. The Alfredo sauce was a little thin, and honestly it lacked any real flavor. 7/10
The cavatelli ($12) was not good. It was a thick pasta (which cavatelli is) but was either cut too thick, or badly undercooked. It was almost dry and chewy in the middle. The pesto cream that came with it was average. Not memorable in any way. 6.5/10
I decided to add a couple meatballs ($3). They were almost over-grinded, and didn't seem to have any breadcrumbs in them at all. It honestly reminded me of a patê consistency. Didn’t eat the second one if we’re being honest. 4/10
Lastly, I want to talk about the price versus the atmosphere. This is a carry-out only spot, with a few picnic tables in a patio area. If you decide to eat on the premises, you're still eating straight out of the to-go containers. For the prices you're paying, it feels like having plates and real silverware should be an option if you decide to eat there. Even if it was just paper plates. Just something other than the to-go containers. But that’s just me, not a huge deal.
I felt like I was paying a "dine in" price, for a "to go" experience. If you don't have servers, a small staff, a small building with what I can only assume is a small rent, no real cutlery or dining room... I can't justify the price point.
Another thing I noticed was other reviews saying things like "I had enough for another meal!" There is no way, unless a serving size for you is extremely small. Most of those reviews were from several months ago around opening, so maybe they have sized down a little since opening. I'm not sure.
Overall, it was what l'd call a slightly above average experience and food. Nothing l'd go out of my way for, that's for sure. For the price, you can sit down somewhere and get just as good, if not better food.
Based on the other reviews, I wanted to love this place. Based on “Sniping for Dom”s review I was expecting to love this place. Unfortunately the real world didn't match the...
Read moreSo, I'm from NWI, aka, the greater Chicago area. I'm a pizza snob. I've lived in OH for 20 years and Ytown has some of the best pizza around. I've found quite a few gems here in Canton and Akron. When my boss heard me talking about the Italian beef sandwich(signature Chicago sandwich), to a coworker, he said, Try Burratas, they have them. I got so excited. I make them at home but it's a process and since Giordanos closed, nowhere else sells them. So, I called my husband to meet me at Burratas for an Italian beef and pizza. We arrived and it's a weird parking lot but that's typical of the small businesses on Tusc. There are 2 tables on the patio, a small round table right in front of the counter, and a table that seats four that takes up almost all the free space they have. I would say it's more of a take-out place. We ordered a small pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms and the Italian Beef sandwich. The pizza and drink prices are a little high. It was $3 a topping. The 2-topping small pizza was $18. The sandwich was reasonably priced at $11. Then my husband got a bottled Modelo which was $5! They only have canned pop so I got a Pepsi for $1.75. She said we could sit outside and come back in about 15 minutes to grab our food. I asked my husband to grab me a glass of ice for my pop. When my husband went back in to get the food, she informed us they don't have ice but could give me a chilled glass, and she would bring the food out because it wasn't ready yet. It took closer to 45 minutes for the food. Finally, he brought the food out. I took one look at the "Italian Beef" and knew it wasn't authentic. It was ok but not a real Italian beef. No giardinera peppers or even banana peppers, the "Au Jus" was typical Ohio style, beef broth. The pizza was good but for $18 I'll pass. Also, as soon as the food came, gnats swarmed us. Very hard to enjoy anything while swatting at bugs the entire time. Not sure we...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try this place out for MONTHS after hearing tons of great reviews. Everything in the menu sounded enticing and the restaurant itself smells amazing when you walk in . We decided on the baked gnocchi with meat balls, an extra order of meatballs . The Italian wedgie, the Italian beef hoagie and a slice of pepperoni pizza . I couldn’t help myself and ate the pizza immediately as soon as I got into my car .and it was perfect! The crust was nice and thin with a good chew to it . The sauce was not sweet and perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of cheese . The wedgie was nicely filled with Italian meats and cheese. I could have easily eaten the who thing by myself it was so good. the beef used in the hoagie was tender and flavorful asnd , bread held up perfectly with the au jus it came with . The gnocchi was soft and pillowy while still keeping its shape and baked with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. The best part of all of it was chef Franks sauce . Exceptionally seasoned and balanced making the whole dish sing. Chef Frank and Seema were friendly and welcoming and reminded me of how my grandparents and parents described how people ran theirs businesses “ back in the day “ 10/10 we...
