Overall an unsatisfying experience. Upon walking in and sitting down at the counter, I just receive a grumpy look from the waitress and a mumbled "will be right with you". After several minutes and chatting with customers, she decided to ask me what I need. What I need??? First, I need a friendly greeting and a smile when I enter as a customer, followed by a "How are you today and what can I get you?" Is that so hard??? Her behavior made me feel like an unwelcome intruder, not a paying customer. I choose the pulled pork sandwich. It was mediocre at best. For a place that has "BBQ" in their business name, the meat should be barbecued and not just be flavorless pulled pork drenched in BBQ sauce. No BBQ smoked flavor at all. It only got worse. I was going camping and ordered a pound of the pulled port and a pound of ham. The pulled pork was totally different from the meat that was in my sandwich. Gross big chunks of pork meat, fat and cartilage (!!!) floating in slimy gibberish meat jelly! The ham was ok, however with a lot of fat on it. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GOT BACK TO THIS PLACE. GROSS,...
Read moreThere's a reason why Kennedy's has been in my old neighborhood right across the tracks from Waterworks and Monument parks. Go visit McKinley and his museum then stop in a place that's been around for something like 2000 years! Bean soup, ham sandwiches (or other meats if you desire), and Kennedy's own relish! Yeee-hawww cowboy!!! So far I get, celery and brown mustard, maybe a hint of horseradish... The secret recipe is bona-fide great! I'm not sure what's in it, but what I am sure of is since they were purchased by Taggerts, I know they exact formula will be retained and Kennedy's will remain around for 2000 years more.
While the pie is good, don't order it. Get in your car and drive the 10 blocks over to Taggerts for a Bitner. They've been around for about 2000 years as well and nothing is better than that...
Read moreWhen I visited, my server was very rude. Options &menu were extremely limited. I got a pulled pork sandwich and the bread was so freakin soggy that I had to use a fork to eat the meat and that was extremely disappointing especially after I had made a small suggestion about maybe lightly toasting the bread and the server rudely informed me that Kennedys has been open for 100ish years and that they don't plan to change anything from their menu or recipe because other people apparently don't have an issue with eating soggy bread with a fork when they order a Sandwich....I definitely do not plan to ever visit here again. The pulled pork was good but not good enough to deal with the terrible service or limited options. Not sure how this place was able to stay open for as long as they have but good...
