My family & I went here for the first time last night, and will never go back. Definitely don't see all of the hype that everyone makes about this ice cream shop. I've never been so disrespected by employees of any business I've been to. I suppose that's what happens in today's world as they have primarily teens running the shop and most children are not taught the same respect for their elders or anyone for that matter as they used to be.
My family and I decided to go here last night, as it's not too far from where we live and is one of the only ice cream shops still open until 10. However, once we arrived we couldn't find a spot to park as it was very busy. So we drove around the unfamiliar area for a bit until we were able to find an available parking spot near the shop. Once we did, we didnt have as much time to look at the menu as anticipated, but had enough time to decide on something and order.
The staff started getting our order ready once we paid and for some reason made my ice cream come before the other 3 orders. As they should have prepared everything in order so everyone else on my family could get their ice cream while they waited, so I could pay and put my card away, sign the receipt, and sanitize my hands.
The person making the ice cream handed the cashier the ice cream who was rude and wanted me to take the ice cream before I even finished signing the receipt and putting my card away. And of course I wanted to sanitize my hands prior to touching my food after touching public surfaces, especially the pen. He made the comment that it's not like they're closing or anything.
As I proceded to tell him, customers should always come 1st and are always served if they were there prior to the closing time, which we were. In customer service, customer's are always right and without customers your business can't survive. Therefore, it's important who you allow to be the face of your business while your behind the scenes running it. If they don't represent your business well, they could obviously jeopardize it. That's why it's so esseential to not only be selective with who you hire, but for managment to proper train and oversee staff.
In addition, the cashier also verbally complained that I didn't leave a tip. 1st of all, customers have the choice whether or not they leave a tip, however, I felt so rushed that I quickly signed my receipt, unintentionally skipping that part. However, little did he know I'm the kind of customer you typically want. When I leave a tip, I always tip really well, unless your rude and/or provide poor service, why should I leave a tip? It wasn't earned. If you want a tip, you have to earn one and provide the best customer service possible. It's not that difficult.
As we were leaving, the security guard approached us and apologized for our experience as he heard what the cashier said and he wanted us to return as he's been working for the company for quite some time. So he bought my family gift certificates for next time. I informed him that it wasn't necessary and he insisted after our poor experience that we give them another try. Very thoughtful gesture and very grateful, unfortunately we will not be retuning and pass the gift certificate to someone else.
We will give our service to Pav's who has this place beat. The ice cream taste and looks better, and the staff is polite. They also take all required proper safety precautions at this point in time by wearing masks and gloves. None of the staff at Taggarts wore gloves or had masks on. And there were a lot of staff i the back working. Definitely not adhering to proper protocol. Anyone handling food should always wear gloves anyway. As a nurse, I know just how...
Read moreWe live in the neighborhood, and used to be frequent diners... lately unfortunately it has not been great. We have used the online ordering 3 seperate times, all of which when we go to pick it up, it is never made and we end up having to wait another 15/20 minutes for it to be made. Tonight I was yelled at by the security guard they have working there because I had to park on the corner, he insisted that i should go to my car and drive around the corner behind his car that would literally be in the same corner spot but on a different street. I literally live 4 houses down and know I can park there, i am pregnant, which would be why I drove 4 houses down the street instead of walking. He caused a scene, embarrassing me inside the restaurant, and when my ice cream should have been ready 10 minutes earlier according to their website, the girls working didn't even know the order existed... i told them to go ahead and cancel the order, but I already paid so I wanted the money refunded... and no one knew how or what to do, so they made the ice cream so sloppy it was running down my hand and all over my shirt. I didn't even end up eating it. It makes me sad that this will be our last visit to taggarts, especially when it used to be such a great place to have close by in our...
Read moreI’m appalled. Im knew to the area and everybody has told me how good Taggarts is so I was excited to take my puppy for his 1 year birthday tonight to go get ice cream. When we got there, the security officer asked me what kind of dog I had so I was giving him the breed, and then he asked me again but this time telling me to step outside. I could tell by his tone that he wasn’t asking about the breed but if he was a service dog or not. I told him he’s my emotional support dog and offered to show him my ID. My mom stepped out and explain to the security guy that he is my emotional support dog. He immediately said oh well if that’s the case then they can come in. She was about to place the order when the manager than said because my dog didn’t have the vest on they wouldn’t service us. It is crazy, that we were there just to pick up ice cream and leave. We were not even planning to stay, but this whole experience has shed light and we will never do business there no matter how good it is. We take our pups everywhere. We’ve never had this experience at Sam’s Club, Aldi’s, Walmart, Meijer, cold stone, Brewster, handles, Mexican restaurants ext.. hopefully this will be a learning lesson for them in the future that it is completely against the law to treat service...
