Tonight, my family and I were preparing to go to El Camino Real for dinner, and realized it was rather close to their closing time, so we decided to try Rancho Nuevo, for the first time. We had heard great things about this restaurant before, but have always been privy to El Camino Real. We ordered 4 meals, two adults and two children. I ordered a chicken meal, with the menu stating it was cheesy sauce with onions and mushrooms toppings. I asked for no onions. I received a plate SLATHERED in onions, with 4 little mushrooms. The "cheese sauce" was watery and quite frankly, disgusting. I ended up filling myself up on chips and salsa and wasted the entire plate. This is what you'd think was the worst part... But wait there's more! We ordered queso dip with the chips, never received it, but the charge was on the receipt. We were also charged for 3 drinks, when two were included in the kids meals price. Then when they were confronted about the receipt being wrongly priced, they stammered and were thrown off by us catching them trying to overcharge us. The ONLY waiter working tonight, stormed off, redid the receipt to the correct price, threw the new receipt on our table and stormed off again. The new, correct receipt was almost $8 cheaper. Service was terrible. Food was mediocre. And we will never visit again. I'd highly recommend to start checking your receipt before paying blindly, and count your change before you leave. Watch out for the balding man, who seemed to knowingly try and deceive us on the prices. El Camino Real will continue to receive our patronage, and next time we go to El Camino Real, we'll leave them their well deserved tip, as well as the tip we would have left at Rancho Nuevo had they...
Read moreMy husband's margarita came out gross, husband nicely asked if something could be done to make it better. The unfriendly waiter said, add ice. So my hubby said, "yes try anything.". Ice did not help. I went up to pay, I wasn't asked how anything was. I did tell the lady cashing me out that margarita was not drinkable ($13.50). She didn't say anything in response. She gives me my change. I said, "so it doesn't matter that there is a whole undrinkable margarita left on the table" then our waiter come up and said, "that's how they always are, we have had lots of them come out today, he is our only complaint." I did tell them, we would def choose elsewhere in the future. They didn't seem to care. For a "family owned" business, they sure didn't treat us like family. Sidenote-the chicken in my burrito was dry, but hey the steak in my husband's burrito was nice and...
Read moreWent here for 1st time w friends. My mango margarita on rocks very good. Very good salsa/chips. I had chicken burrito grande. A bit bland and chicken really overcooked. Would not order again. My husband had chorizo chimichanga. He said didn't seem deep fried. Our friend had grilled chicken one; again needs to be deep fried and crispy. He said he wouldn't order again. Other friend ordered Pollo chicken w mushrooms, onions. He said it had some kind of sweet sauce (BBQish) . We ordered white cheese dip, and my husband ordered "hot' salsa which they chg' extra for. Our bill was $47+tip. Our friends' bill w $51+tip. Pricey for Mexican food, especially considering it wasn't top notch. They were busy, but no excuse for mediocre cooking. Note, they charge 3% surcharge for using...
