I’m giving 5 stars because I genuinely want this place to correct its kinks and succeed—it definitely has great potential.
That said, my first experience at this restaurant is closer to 4 stars than 5. I’ll be visiting again soon and will update this review accordingly.
This review is more directed towards management/ownership than my fellow customers.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is fantastic, and I had a very enjoyable night. Service: The service was outstanding. We were taken care of very gracefully by a gentleman named Armando, who I consider to be in the “master class” of hospitality. He’s one of those rare wizards who can make you forget all your worries for an hour. He is amazing! Food: The food was delicious, full of flavor, and very well-balanced. The combination of ingredients, especially in the tacos, is what makes Mexican food so irresistible.
So, what failed?
Host: The gentleman working as the host kept telling customers that the wait was one hour. I’m glad we decided to stay because the actual wait was only 17 minutes—a significant difference! During those 17 minutes, we spent 12 of them sitting on a bench by the door. We witnessed numerous people leave due to the perceived excessive wait time. Owner: If you knew how much business you lost on that Friday night, you will start to cry. We noticed two seats available at the bar and moved there with our drinks. We were seated at the bar for maybe 5 minutes or less before being told our table was ready. While I understand this is likely part of the learning curve until waiting times are more accurate, please pay attention to this. Many of those who left won’t return!
Food Presentation: The plates used for the street tacos are very large, round, and shallow. Unfortunately, the presentation didn’t do justice to the food—it made the portions look very small. The tacos came with three mini tortillas with micro pieces of steak on that huge dish. While the food was delicious, it didn’t look appealing. My suggestion: serve the steak together on a smaller plate, or give slightly larger portions. There’s only so much you can do to make a taco dish look “fancy,” don't force it! They are tacos after all. Keep the tortillas warm (not exposed) and serve better portions on a smaller plate, and I am certain it will improve the experience. After all, the price of the tacos is on the higher end for what they are.
Thank you for reading, and I hope these minor flaws are addressed. I truly want to return and make this my go-to Mexican place!...
Read moreMy family have gone to this restaurant several times and while it is our favorite Mexican restaurant there have been some issues the past month. First though the place looks great. It can get noisy at times but that doesn’t bother me. It was actually much quieter yesterday. Our waitress yesterday was outstanding which honestly is a first. We have not had a lot of luck with good service. For the most part our food yesterday was outstanding. We got the guacamole (not pictured) as an appetizer and it was phenomenal. The only other picture not shown was the steak chimichangas that my wife gets a lot and no complaints there at all. I had the shrimp burrito which was outstanding. The steak nachos were really good but one of them we had to ask for cheese to be added which we thought was strange. It came out great though. My daughter’s favorite meal is the chicken and spinach enchiladas. This is where the biggest problem has been but not the only one. I posted 3 different pictures from 3 different times and you can see each time they look very different. The picture on the far left was the most recent. It looks mostly green on top. There was decent flavor and my daughter thought it tasted fine but she said she isn’t sure she will order it again. This was her favorite meal and full of flavor but they changed something. The middle picture was the previous time we went and that was the worst one. No flavor, tasted watery and my daughter could not finish her meal. I did speak to the manager that time about it and they did take money off our bill and gave us a complimentary dessert which we didn’t ask for but was nice of them. The far right picture was how the meal was made the first few times and also the best. I am not sure why they changed the meal or if there is a problem with the staff but it really is a shame. As far as my burrito, it was absolutely incredible but the first time I got it was not nearly as good. I wanted to give it another try and was glad I did. We didn’t get any drinks this time and the main reason is the last time I went they were not as good as the first few times. Overall we really enjoy coming here but the inconsistency with each meal and the bar is making it difficult to recommend to friends like I did at first. I really hope they fix some of these issues as this restaurant truly has the potential to be one...
Read moreMy Husband and I went to give this restaurant a try because it was featured in the News Press so we thought it must be good. First, we arrived, the Hostess did not even greet us, she was talking to other servers, I had to ask if I needed to be on a wait list, she then said she was checking booths, and then she got us in a booth that we couldn't even fit. We are small than average people weight wise, and I had to ask for another booth because I couldn't even sit down...good thing that the people on booth behind us left and we were able to push the seat back, opening space in our booth. they disregard our request, so we had to wait for the booth behind us to vacate so we can breath in ours and be able to sit comfortably. We then ask for drinks, got the drinks about 15 minutes later, no silverware or napkins, had to ask for these. We got the guacamole dip and was OK, not impressive, then we finally order our food and it took 45 minutes for our food to come, in the mean time, since the wait was excessively long, we asked for more chips and salsa. then our food came and it was cold. My husband asked for the seafood tower and I had the Flautas. the seafood was very fishy. Not sure if it was fresh, but usually seafood does not smell fishy if fresh. My flautas were cold so I had two out of the 4 because that was my only meal and I was hungry, but I think I made a mistake ordering the flautas. As to atmosphere, it was cramped, very loud that I couldn't even hear my server and staff lacks ownership and training on how to provide good customer service starting with the hostess. The kitchen food time needs major improvement. 45 to 50 minutes to get your food is way too long and then getting cold food is not acceptable. In summary, very disappointed with the whole experience, so we won't be...
