Bread Pete — Restaurant in Cape Coral

With this name and location, I wasn't expecting much. ... But, WOW! Boy was I wrong. This is my new favorite bakery in Cape Coral. Now it's kinda like a hole in the wall cafe where you pick what you want then pay. They were out of so many things at 11am that I was a little disappointed at first. Then I asked if they had any plain croissants and they said in 5 minutes. I got a croissant right out of the oven!!! Online reviews said Kaiser rolls were the best so I got 3 of the 5 that were left. Now I know why everything was gone... It's just THAT good! Kaiser roll is so moist that it tastes like it just came out of the oven! It almost resembles an Italian bread, but moist like a German bread and really good. Apple strudel is very good too. The egg, swiss and ham croissant sandwich is so wunderbar! Girls on a diet? Just immediately cut it in half, there you go! I can't wait to go and try their rye bread, and I don't even like rye that much, but it was completely sold out. There is a steady stream of customers for to go orders and it was 3/4 full for dining. They were very nice, but I think maybe they could use one more helper on busy days. I went on a Wednesday. I went to counter again to buy a specialty loose leaf tea that they sell. Oh and did I mention they roast their own coffee and sell it. Tons of original teas to choose from as well. Did I say I liked this...

This past week, I was invited by Mz SWFL Foodies to join her at a food tasting and to meet the new owners, Melanie & Gerhard Wassink from Hamburg, Germany, who took over ownership in 2024 of Bread Pete Bakery & Cafe at 4402 Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral🎉 Melanie and Gerhard both love to bake, and this was their dream to own and operate a bakery. My husband and I had not been there since covid, so this was a treat for me. I walked into the bakery and was pleasantly surprised at the redesign and loved the new look. The self-serve cases make it easier grabbing a quick loaf so convenient 🥖 It’s a win-win for everyone, quick service, and happy customers 😊. Customers can opt to stop in and purchase baked items or stay for a full-service of breakfast or lunch, served all day. From classic German cheesecake 🍰 to freshly baked bread 🥖delicious pastries, hearty breakfast options, and handcrafted sandwiches, there’s something for everyone on the menu. Bread Pete is a German bakery filled with authentic treats! 🇩🇪🥨 Open Monday thru Friday from 7 am to 2 pm. Saturday, 8 am to 2 pm and Sunday, 8 am to 1 pm.

This was my first visit although I pass the shop constantly. I was in search of real dense delicious rye bread. After calling and confirming they had it, I went. It's much bigger than I thought and although they had a good selection of items, they only had one loaf left. Upon learning of my need, they assured me that they would take care of my order right away. As I sat with a cup of coffee and a pastry, my order was being baked and was ready in about 30 minutes. As it was about 2:00, I thought things would be slowing down but within about 15 minutes no less than 10 people came in and made purchases. I was amazed! I rushed to the counter to be sure I could purchase a specific pastry I had in mind for a friend/neighbor. As I waited, and I'm not kidding, one customer bought 2 of the 4 pastries I wanted. I felt foolish but had a picture in mind of me cutting in front of the 2 people in front of me to get those items. I didn't do it, but... I rated Bread Pete 5 stars because staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating and the coffee, pastry and bread were delicious. Yes, I tore into the bread as soon as I got home! It was the best I've tasted in years and I have tried 2 other bakeries in the area....not even close. I will be a continuing customer! Kudos,...
