I will post my pictures later of the food, but the service provided by the manager made me question the restaurant's expectations of a manager. I have eaten inside and ordered takeout many times over. I and the wife decided to not go out on Valentines Day because we had a trip to STL the next day to celebrate Valentines Day and check out a concert. I still wanted to eat on Valentines Day, so we agreed to order takeout. I ordered about three dishes and appetizers. When I was taking the food out of the bag, I noticed there was no chicken curry with my rice. I called back to the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager, and the young lady said she was the manager. I explained what happened. She said I packed the rice; it would be in a white container. I looked over the items again, and there was no white takeout container in or out of the bag. She said well you probably do not want to come back out so she would give me an appetizer on my next visit. I said excuse me, an appetizer, I have no meal just two pieces of chicken in a bath of yellow watery chicken sauce not even thick. She again said the best she could do is an appetizer. I said would you be disappointed if you were told what you are telling me. She said I will replace your meal. I travel to Saint Louis and other towns to experience good unique meals and service. Saffron needs to rethink how important their customer is because I will think twice before going back to the restaurant. To me, bad customer service makes a mediocre meal horrible not wanting to return, and good customer service makes you want to come back again and try...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Saffron for the first time over the weekend as part of celebrating our anniversary. I had reached out to them via Facebook to ask about menu items and reservations, as someone on a vegan diet this is something I do often, and the manager that I spoke with was by far one of the most helpful people I've encountered via a random Facebook message conversation.
I can't say enough great things about our experience. They reserved a table in the corner for us with plenty of space and a great view of the sunset over the trees (and even a few deer out and about) and they even put out a nice card wishing us a happy anniversary. I think almost every front of the house team member was kind enough to stop and also wish a happy anniversary, including the manager. Our waiter was extremely polite and professional, and knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. He was also very helpful in providing us suggestions regarding local events over the weekend as well as after dinner options for us to enjoy a drink in a comfortable environment. Our food was all very fresh and delicious, and we were even provided with a wonderful complimentary dessert.
I don't believe I've ever had a dining experience on par with how great Bistro Saffron was this weekend. My wife and I will definitely be visiting each time we're in Cape Girardeau...
Read moreWas not happy with whole evening. I reserved a month in advance for my bday/anniv/valentines dinner and i did stipulate that on my reservation!. We were sat at a small 2 top table(like at ihop or applebees type small table) in btwn 2 top and 4 top tables we were listening to everyone elses convo only being a foot or 2 apart awkward !! And not the way i wanted my celeb evening to be. I expected more! The room seemed packed in weve been there b4 and it was not set like that. Food: chef fried rice with chicken was bland and slightly dry so had to ask for soy sauce and salt pepper to jazz it up. Cashew chicken i was so looking forward to this but it was so spicy hot was so hard to eat so took a togo box and mixed it with rice/citrus at home for lunch next day still spicy but able to eat it. California roll was good and the cheese rolls were good . I will not reserve a celebration/ special occasion here again, ok for drop in lunch all be pricey one. Staff was pleasant /smiling and when asked ? Were...
