Ciao Ristorante + Enoteca — Restaurant in Cape Girardeau

The atmosphere is a mixture of modern and art deco sensibilies, and the food is very light flavors that leave the palete ready for another taste. Every bite is the same refreshing flavor because the seasoning and sauces are not overdone or overwhelming.

Then comes the open and friendly staff, bartenders who know how to pair drinks and are knowledgeable about the subject and servers who know what to pair with my meal. Tyler, the bartender, told me about his favorite drinks and we talked for a solid 10 minutes about how we make drinks. Aleyah, my server, was cordial and helped me decide on a chardonnay instead of my original choice of reisling which ended up adding to the flavor of the crepe I had.

Visited Ciao for dinner yesterday with my husband and was honestly shocked by the quality of the food. For appetizers, I ordered a Caesar salad and my husband ordered the corn dip. My salad consisted of mostly wilted lettuce which was disappointing. Husband's corn dip tasted like something out of a can, not fresh at all. For entrees I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and he ordered the gnocchi. My lobster Mac and Cheese was super soupy rather than creamy. Worst of all, the sauce had broken which separated into cheese and an oily film, and somehow the chef still decided to serve it. Lobster was rubbery, overcooked, and had a funky taste. Husband's gnocchi was okay-ish, but extremely dry and with a strong taste of oil. Overall, disappointed in our experience, especially given the prices...

I cannot recommend this place enough! Everything is delicious and the food is 10/10, but the service is 20/10!

I travel alone for work and was craving some good Italian food, so I booked a table here. I was unfortunate to come when they were hosting a private party so I sat at a table by the party, and while it was incredibly loud, it really didn’t detract from the experience much as the meal, service, and atmosphere was still great. However, my server told me that the manager (or owner?) felt bad about my experience being disrupted by the party and comped my meal. Even though this was unnecessary, as I still had a great time, it was greatly appreciated.
