Could be better!
We tried this place based on the reviews. Love that it’s BYOB. 4 people, 2 apps & 4 entrees was about $200 without tip.
If you eat “indoors,” it’s basically outside but in a large enclosed tent. Which is fine, if the food was better. There’s no bathroom inside, you walk outside of the eating area, and down a walkway to the restroom. Compare the restroom vibe to a festival set-up or camper park. It wasn’t clean.
We got the Chicken Meatballs as an app, comes with 5 small meatballs. They weren’t worth the $18 & I don’t recommend. The Baked Brie appetizer was really good! Has a sweetness from the jams on it, very delicious with the crackers.
The Duck Confit was pretty good. The zucchini could’ve been cooked a little better because they were soggy and needed salt.
The Barrumundi Brimmed was not good. The fish was rubbery and you couldn’t taste any jumbo crab. We also didn’t know what a Barramundi was until now. The menu might have it spelled wrong unless that was intentional.
The Lamb Shank dish was a bit slimy. The waitress also did not ask how we wanted it cooked and it came out medium-well.. for the price, it could’ve been better.
The Avocado Feta Salmon was OK. The salmon itself was the only good thing on the plate.
This place has potential. They can be “antique-style” and vintage-y if they put in more effort to making the place nicer, including better standards on the food and atmosphere. If you want an elegant vintage place, you can have the rugged look but the food needs to be above standard to make the environment an appealing experience!
Overall, the meal was disappointing & each meal came out lukewarm-cool. We went to our house and ordered a pizza & desserts from Blue Moon Pizza... so if that says anything at all,...
Read moreYou’ve Cod to be kidding!!! Overall our dinner on Aug 30 at Vintage was a decent one, The outside eating was very pleasant and they had a terrific jazz band playing on other side of the lawn at the Physick estate in Cape May. I was in a party of three. I was surprised to see the very small piece of cod I had as my entree. They did mention it was on the small side but it was not even an appetizer size. Nikkos should know better but I understand this is a new venture for him. It was so small it was hidden under the garnish. No bigger than a silver dollar. The Caesar salad was huge and my cus cus was outstanding. My cousin and his wife had good sized meals and enjoyed their food. The duck was tasty although the roasted potatoes were a bit dry. The rice ball was good but not $12. The wild boar bolognese with the pappardelle pasta was mouth watering excellent. It was the favorite of the evening. Not sure why they charge for bread however. The service was terrific, both Sarah and Dillon did a great job. Sarah was particularly helpful and very accessible. And she both heard our opinions and also defended the restaurant in a professional manner regarding the cod. We would love to have her as our waitress the next time we visit. It was a nice dinner experience yet it cod have...
Read moreSo excited to learn of a new byob in Cape May, but disappointed last Saturday evening after dining there with a friend. Our server was friendly and most gracious. Outside atmosphere was lovely. After asking her if crab cakes were made in their kitchen and were they jumbo lump and her answer to both was yes... I took a chance. The rolls were delightful and my Caesar salad excellent. The capers were a nice touch to the salad. Crab cakes were pulverized crab meat, which were ladened with an unrecognizable spice and topped with a mediocre sauce. I could not detect any crab flavor. The vegetables were steamed or sautéed to mush and the rice was the consistency of microwave minute rice. I was so disappointed. I am an excellent cook and know good food. They need to do something about those crab cakes. I don’t know if I will return. My friend ordered the ahi tuna and thought it was just okay. I have never written a review before, but felt it necessary on...
