Rotolo's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Carencro

SHORT STORY:

This was my first time going here and I had high expectations for this place. But in the end, it was a standard experience, just like most Italian restaurants.

LONG STORY:

I wanted to try this place out before I bought my friends or family here. So, on my day off, I went here for a late lunch.

It wasn't busy when I came in around 3pm. Only a few customers, so the space was wide for me to sit anywhere. The waitress was attentive to me (+ on that), but here's where the stars start "falling."

I order a side salad and a calzone. Most of the menu items cost around 6.99 to 9.99, which isn't bad for one entree. My complaint though is that if I wanted a bigger salad than a side salad (that cost 3.99), then I would pay 7.99. Yikes, I wasn't expecting that. The side salad was good of course (just leaves me hanging for more).

About 10 minutes pass by and my Muffuletta calzone came. A little greasy and salty (which is expected) but it was good! I ended up eating the whole thing. A customer that was sitting behind me recommended that I get their gelato dessert. It was tempting, but I didn't get it.

So in the end, it was good food experience! But why 4 stars? I think it's a great restaurant firsthand, but it just another Italian restaurant. There's nothing special here that would set it apart from say a choice between this and Olive Garden. But honestly, I rather choose Rotolo's Pizzeria.

Overall, I would come here again to try a different item...

My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and it went poorly to put it nicely. To start we were one of three tables, including us maybe 7-8 people total. We ordered our food at the same time we ordered our drinks because we’ve been here before and knew what we wanted. After about ten minutes his salad arrived but my appetizer didn’t. Twenty minutes went by, my food still hadn’t arrived and despite eating slowly, his salad was almost gone. Our server hadn’t checked in on us the entire time, instead choosing to flirt with her only other table. At this point I went to the bar and checked with the two waitresses who had been standing over there talking and had to wait a moment while they fixed a woman’s take out order that was wrong. They checked with the cook and found out he boxed up my food for a take out order instead of the dine in order we specified we were doing. He plated the food and they gave it to me. I got back to the table to find out that the food was barely warm it had been sitting in the box for so long. After eating some of it I put the rest in a to go box. We ordered the cookie and ice cream dessert and while it was tasty, the cookie, despite being separate from the ice cream, was cold. Overall I’m not impressed on how the service was and I’m not sure I have any intention...

Food was very overpriced for the quality of food given. I was told my meal CAME WITH a side salad but later found out on the bill that there was a $2 up charge for that and when the waitress was questioned she said “yes it does come with it but it’s a upcharge for it” ???? Makes zero sense to me. If something COMES WITH my meal, there should be no up charge or this should have been communicated upon ordering. We also waited for over an hour and a half. We were told the kitchen was backed up but they had people who got there after us and got their food before us and left before we got our food. My child asked for her chips that we ordered with her meal and the waitress told her “I’ll bring them out with your food”. After 30 minutes of waiting I then again asked for the chips because my kids were getting hungry and cranky. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful for the most part. Will not be visiting here again.
