Waffle House — Restaurant in Carencro

Well I skipped lunch and waited until after work to go to a place that has never failed me. I delved into the bacon and steak melt on texas toast with hashbrowns on the side. What's a hash with it "covered" with cheese and "chunked" with thick diced of ham? A fair and un-share-able portion I would say! I asked for a hefty scoop of perfection charred grilled onions to layer the bottom Tex toast. Nice! This sandwich was really something to trip over a rock, jump a hoop, or skip a mile and fall down doing either. Only to dust yourself off and try again. You deserve this one. Love crunchy bacon that was not burned? Oh yea, it was on it.! The taste... .. well it was worth the dust that settled in my face:) Waffle house never ceases to amaze me! I truly enjoyed this sandwich. I must give three stars because I asked for my hash covered with cheese and it came out without it. When I mentioned it my server took it back, only to give me my plate back cold and the slice of cheese just sat on top, unmelted. I could have unwrapped the slice myself for a hot plate. That was unacceptable but I did not complain. She even kept my plate a few minutes, I was assuming it was being warmed and melted, but no, it sat there until someone had the time to add a slice on top. Love me some Waffle House! Especially for a late dinner. I order the all star special. I get 2 eggs over easy bacon cooked well hashbrowns smothered and covered toast bread and a peanut butter waffle w/ chocolate milk with a few ice cubes. Delicious. I can not eat it all but enjoy trying. Staff have always been friendly. And for you ppl like me who can't handle cold air, bring a hoodie or small jacket bc it's always super cold in every Waffle House I been too. FYI If you place an order to go or call to get picked up, a tip is already included in the price and they also charge you extra for taking food to go in their plastic container w/ plastic silverware. Yes they charge their customers for taking food to go! I only realized this bc of the difference in price compared to the same meal eating there or taking to go. That's when I got a receipt and compared them and noticed the extra charges when I took my food to go. Glad to know bc I was also tipping the employee that took my order and checked me out , little did I know that I was double tipping until I read the small print on the menu also one night!! Hope this info is useful to someone who didn't know...

Unpleasant and Horrible Experience. I visited this location with a simple breakfast request. None of the employees greeted me with a "Good Morning. Welcome to Waffle House" like the Opelousas location. That should have been my sign to walk out. The second thing that I noticed was the red sign telling you about ALL of the EXTRA things you will be charged for with a "To Go Order". They automatically make you pay a tip. You also have to pay for the "supplies" that you are given for your take out order. Seriously???? Should I bring my own plate and utensils so that you can put my food in. I asked for a to go spoon to eat my grits, however, they have NO SPOONS!!!!!!!! WHO EATS GRITS WITH A FORK????? The fork utensil packet was unsanitary. It was covered with syrup. So they charged me for nasty utensils. The grits had chunks of uncooked hard grits inside. I guess I needed the knife and fork to cut the hard grits. This Waffle House is more expensive than any other Waffle House that I've ordered from. Why do y'all charge so much more?? Although this is a new Waffle House, Please run the other way. Horrible...
