Mendocino Farms — Restaurant in Carlsbad

We love Mendocino Farms, always a good lunch spot, but lately there has been a considerable drop in quality.

I do want to make it clear, we have not dined-in in a long while, this has all either been to-go delivery.

We have a couple of usual items that we always order, the Superfood Ensalada and Curried Cous Cous. Both excellent items that have always been delicious.

The salad, is awesome, good variety of textures with the crunchies, avocado, corn, etc. The dressing is also delicious and goes well with the salad. Seriously an all-time favorite salad for me.

The curried cous cous is so good, spicy, yet creamy, such a good side to order when getting really anything from Mendo.

I have also tried some soups, and the Pork Belly Banh Mi is also excellent.

So, I wanted to share how much we love eating here before getting into the recent criticism.

Lately, we have been getting our usual salad, and the proportions have just been off. One of the ingredients that they top the salad with is Cotija cheese, usually it's a small amount, used to complement the other flavors in the salad, last time we ordered it, it felt like someone was dusting out salad with the cheese, but the top fell off of the cheese container because it was super excessive.

The other incident that happened was that we ordered some cous cous and it tasted like it went bad, very disappointed that we probably received an old item that was past it's shelf life.

They are usually good, and I am hoping that these are some isolated incidents, but I think we will take a break from going here until they figure out these...

If you are looking for a great place to get a refreshing meal, I want to recommend Mendocino Farms in Carlsbad!!! This was such a GREAT first time experience. When my friend and I arrived and approached the menu board we were intrigued with the options. We were approached with a cheerful smile and asked if it was our first time. We both smiled and said yes. After asking a few questions regarding the menu we made our decision. The name of this cheerful young lady with a beautiful smile was Olivia. She also confirmed that they honor Military discounts! And gave me mine. That will definitely add to my reason to support the business. We had the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Jeremiah. He was very hands on with the staff as well as the establishment. I not only saw him help his team with bussing tables, he also picked up trash and disposed of it. Seeing a general manager be so engaged with a smile for his staff was real refreshing. The food portions are large and very reasonably priced. The outside patio (where we chose to sit) was beautiful and very clean. The ladies restroom was fresh, clean and well stocked. Tables and chairs were all wiped down and looked inviting. In addition to family friendly, this is a dog friendly establishment and the dogs present were all well mannered. There are a couple areas that have chalk boards to keep the kids entertained. So whether you are looking to place an order for pick up, you want to dine in or relax on the patio, I highly recommend Mendocino Farms Carlsbad for your next...

I was here for the pre-opening, thanks to our Princess Money, Jen G. Mendocino offers Farm fresh food in their newly formed food city at Bressi Ranch, wonderful location. I can give the 5 star just for a side of cous-cous curry salad, yummy.

I have tried Mendocino sliders, Tuna melt sandwich, the famous one at Mendocino farm and salads before in a different location. This time I ordered Impossible Taco Salad which, I loved the soy protein, it is a plant-based Impossible chorizo, with lot of superfood krunchies, mix of romaine, kale, black bean, roasted corn & jicama succotash, red onions, cilantro, grape tomatoes, with generous avocado with house vegan chipotle ranch and little spice hint to it. They are very flexible with the dressings, you can switch around. Also, you can always switch any breads in sandwich, very flexible. I loved every ingredient of this salad with jicama, red-onions, tomatoes and lot of herbs.

And my Favorite side of cous-cous curry Yummm, unfortunately this is only a side and cannot be ordered as your main. First time I had this in an event and fell in love in the first bite. Also they have great craft beers and I ordered Swami's IPA from Pizza Port Solana Beach. And lot of Sodas and Lemonade.

I am sure, I will visit again here more often because I love their Staff and Location. So, more updates...
