Sam's Kitchen — Restaurant in Carlsbad

Stopped by for lunch after visiting a customer in the area. Ordered a Special on their chalkboard, a Pork Chile Verde plate. I immediately regretted this decision, because I don't live in the area, and this plate is something I would love to be able to enjoy on a regular basis. It was delicious, and served piping hot on a cold day. Definitely home style and full of flavor. The beans and rice accompanying the plate were also good, and the home made flour tortilla was so big it could have been a blanket for a small child. I had a quarter of the tortilla left over after tearing off portions for the entire meal; spreading beans on the tortilla and piling rice and chile verde drenched pork cubes on top and stuffing the whole bundle in my mouth like a savage. Before I left, knowing it would be a long time before I would be able to return to the area to visit again, I ordered a La Bomba Burrito to go. This tri-tip breakfast burrito was likewise absolutely delicious, several hours after being prepared and reheated, and I wish I was able to enjoy it fresh at the restaurant. We came here right before closing and could not have asked for a better experience. We had no idea what to expect but saw online that it came highly reviewed and they were wrong. First, they were so friendly and kind about us ordering so close to closing time. We ordered the El jefe and the steak was so juicy and delicious! Totally different from any burrito we’ve ever had before but so good and the Chimichurry marinade on it was so perfect. wow! where do I start? this place is delicious!!! I had the la Bomba because who can resist a tasty breakfast burrito? it may seem pricey to some but it's worth it! Sam is very generous with the portions she serves and it's great quality so the price is very fair. I thought that I would be able to eat the entire burrito but It was so large I had to save some of it for my next meal! I also love the fact that you can customize your order. unfortunately I have to limit carbs but was informed that next time I can order my burrito as a bowl.
