Hot Dog House — Restaurant in Carlstadt

No joke, I've passed this place THOUSANDS OF TIMES and never stopped in. I'm glad I finally began the MISSION.

I was joined by 2 others and we were all pleased.

Our host that recommended this place, went all out, ordering 3 of the "DEEP FRIED BIG ONE" (foot long) with everything spicy on it. That was a meal all in itself, not sure how he finished it all!

I got the "DOUBLE D" (hot chili, cheese, raw onions) and the dog was cooked in water only, but when our host mentioned I could have them deep fried...SwEeT!  I did that to the next dog, making it a hotter temperature, crisper and even more tasty. .. the "LILY KRAUT" (kraut tossed w butter and garlic) had good  flavor, better than I could have anticipated. I didn't put any mustard so I could enjoy it as it was excellently prepared.

Onion Rings with a side of cheese to dip them in was a good choice as well, cooked perfectly.

Corn Nuggets had an outside crisp & were soft, sweet and creamy with chEEEEse inside.

I didn't have any fries but our guest said they were good.

Be prepared for ca$h only payment. The bathroom was probably never remodeled since they opened but it was clean in all the places that matter.

It's right on the side of the highway so be careful how you pull in-and-out with your vehicle.

There are so many unique options to try.  I look forward to going back and continuing the MISSION with the HICKORY SMOKED HOT SAUSAGE & footlong hot dog next, it has beef and pork, deep fried, it will be full with flavor.

First topping is only 0.14 the 2nd and 3rd are only 0.10 cents each, so that's a good value. (not sure how that price applies to the foot long dog or the sausage)

I got the large fountain drink and refills were $1 which is a fair deal.

If you're definitely a jersey person you know the small places are the places to go! All the times I've passed by this place heading to a job or I've been dying to stop. Finally made the decision. I'm not passing it up! Grab myself a a Texas dog with hot chili and a double d with a side of waffle fries. The fries tremendous the Texas dog. Phenomenal! The employees there absolutely wonderful! You can tell they've been in business for some time. Between the quality of food, the atmosphere and the employees really make this place stand out! I took a break from stopping to get food on the way home. We're eating out. I've made it for decision the past few months to check out more to local mom and Pop style places! This is on my top five of go-to places for the week! I'll be stopping here more for this...

For some reason, I've really been wanting a good hot dog lately. Luckily, this area has lots of good places and the Hot Dog House is one of them. Hubby and I dropped by on a Wednesday at around 5:30. He got the Jalapeño Popper (cheddar cheese, bacon, jalapeño, Tabasco) and I got the Jersey Dog (dill pickle, raw onions). I liked the jalapeño popper better. The jersey dog was a bit too plain for me. However, the hot dog itself had a nice snap to it. So I think next time I'll go for something with more toppings, and they have some pretty creative combos on the menu. Prices are also cheaper compared to similar hotdog places around.

This will definitely become one of our go to hot dog spots. Going to attempt to eat...
