How can a diner go from your favorite diner in the US to your least favorite:
We are in Hackensack, NJ. We found this AMAZING diner last year. The menu was huge and EVERY THING was so delicious.
This year we went back.
Before we ordered, I asked if the owners were Greek because they had a lot of Greek items on the menu. We were told it was recently sold but the new owner kept the same menu. Ok. We ordered.
I ordered Chicken and Orzo soup, Giant Shrimp stuffed with Crabmeat, and a Cosmo.
First the soup came. It was chicken and rice soup. I didn’t say anything because it may have been an accident 🤷🏻♀️
Then after 15 minutes my Cosmo drink came. I found it really smooth. Well Cranberry juice that is watered down with, well, water. It was an expensive juice in a nice glass. I made my husband taste it to see if I was mistaken. He said he didn’t like my watery juice.
My giant shrimp stuffed with crabmeat came. The stuffing was yellow and odd. I searched for the crabmeat and found short rolled sheets of crab like substance and the fake orange outer layer. I decided I was done with that.
When our waitress came back, she asked if everything was ok.
Me: I hate to ask this but is this supposed to be real crab meat in this stuffing? (I asked while holding up a layer of it on my fork.)
Waitress: OH NO that’s Not REAL crabmeat. That’s the cheap stuff. Would you like something else?
Me:
Waitress: Why don’t I bring you a broiled sole. People love it.
Me: Sure why not.
10 minutes later she brings me a pound of fish on a plate.
As I take a bite, I realize it was boiled and then stuck in a broiler for 2 minutes. This fish was dripping wet and tasted a bit of soap. I couldn’t eat it. I tried but it was just bad.
Waitress: Do you like it?
Me: No I am sorry but this is really not good.
Waitress: Why don’t I get you a box and you can take it home to your cat?
The waitress was so nice but the food was like knock off versions of the place we...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting!!! Went at like 3 am. I'm from jersey and have worked as a waitress in diners my whole life . I have never been more disgusted and pissed. First I ask about the calamari and if it was fresh or frozen .they say fresh! Bring it out in 4 more minutes. Under cooked and looked like onion rings. Clearly frozen!! Trade it in for buffalo wings that when came out were just wings. No buffalo! I stayed safe and ordered a mushroom and Swiss Burger. My husband ordered a waffle brkfast.. can't really mess that order up.. the bun was old and stale . The burger looked like it had been sitting there for hours and just came out the microwave. It was disgusting. I didn't even take a bite!!!! And I'm a big girl lol. So for me not even to touch it is a big problem. Then I discover my husband eating a raw waffle !!! Literally!! There was still batter in the middle . The waiter was rude the hostess was extremely rude. And when I approached her about the calamari she swore it was fresh not frozen . She just was very argumentative and when we paid she only took off my Burger and made me pay Ala cart for the waffle brkfast which in the end was still the same price as the meal.I have never ever ate at such a dump disgusting horrible place in my life . I give this place negative 20 stars. HORRIFIC!!! THE ONE PLACE OF THOUGH WOULD BE BAD WAS THE BENDIX DINER DOWN THE ROAD BUT BOY THEY ARE EXCELLENT...DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER ..TRY THEIR MUSHROOM AND SWISS BURGER! AMAZING!! WE ARE OVER THE ROAD TRUCK DRIVERS AND RECOMMEND THEM ANYDAT OVER...
Read moreI can not recommend Meadowlands dinner enough. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal or a special occasion.
The menu offers a wide variety of options, from classic dishes to more unique and creative offerings. Everything is cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I especially enjoyed the fresh ingredients used in each dish and the attention to detail in the presentation.
One thing that really stood out to me was the affordability of the meals. Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices are incredibly reasonable. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that offers such value for money, especially in a touristy area like Wollongong.
The proximity to the stadium is also a huge plus. Whether you're attending a game or just passing through, Meadowlands dinner is the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat before or after an event. The convenience factor combined with the delicious food and friendly service make it a standout choice in the area.
Overall, Meadowlands dinner exceeded all my expectations and left me wanting to come back for more. I can't wait to return and try more of their tantalizing dishes. If you find yourself in Wollongong, do yourself a favor and make a stop at this fantastic restaurant. You won't be...
