I am amazed and appalled at the lack of concern the managerial staff shows for customer satisfaction. After tonight's experience they have lost a long time guest. My husband has been frequenting the Village for over 15 years and has never had such a terrible experience. From the beginning, our waitress seemed rushed and preoccupied. Did not know the drink specials off hand nor the correct beer on tap. I ordered a coke to drink. After a few sips (through a straw, thank god) I noticed that there was still heavy pink lipstick on the rim of the glass. When brought to our waitress' attention she didnt seem to be genuinely apologetic, when it could have been avoided if it wasnt for her neglegance and inability to pay attention to detail. We asked to speak to a manager- when she came to the table she didnt seem phased by the situation either, just assured us that the dishes get washed twice. If that's the case, how is there still very visible lipstick on the rim? She offered us a dessert on the house and that was that. Our food arrives to the table- my husband ordered the "all you can eat fish fry", I had the BLT sandwich and our kid had the quesadillas. The bacon on my sandwich was burnt to a crisp and crumbling out of the sandwich. Not appetizing or satisfying at all, but I didnt want to seem like "that person" after complaining about the lipstick so I ate what I could on the sandwich and mostly ate the French fries that came on the side. Our waitress never asks if my husband would like a refill on his fish, but jumps straight to asking if we need boxes for our food and if we were ready for the check. We were trying to enjoy a nice family dinner out on a Friday night and were rushed through our entire meal. Then, I get to bottom of my fries and find short black hairs stuck to the plate in the fry grease. At this point I'm finished and I expect a manager to understand the dissatisfaction in my meal and take care of it. No one else wanted to eat anymore of their food, I dont blame them, I wouldn't want my food after someone else at my table found hair in their plate. The manager said he would comp the meal and we fully expected to pay for the alcoholic beverages my husband had. The waitress drops our check off but we were still charged for half the meal, as well as the coke with the lipstick!? When I spoke with the managers, AGAIN, they argued with me and said they just couldn't comp all the food like that. Which I know is not true, considering I have worked in the food service industry for over 15 years. They're inability to try and rectify the situation was disheartening. I would have expected more from a dining establishment that seems to have such a good reputation. Every guest is just as important as the next. I will strongly be advising everyone I know to not dine at...
Read moreI entered the eatery and nobody greeted me and I was standing for over a minute before I took a seat at the bar. Upon taking a seat at the bar the barista looked at me and never asked me what I needed.
Finally what looked like to be a manager by the cooking area came over to me after being n the bar for 3 minutes and asked if she could help me. I said, 'I needed a menu'. And she repeated back to me as if I was speaking a foreign language and looked at me with a grimace/ scowl. She kept frequently asking me if I was ready to order when I didn't have a chance to go through the whole menu, seeing the 1st time I ever visited this establishment.
I engaged with her and asked her why she kept coming back so often before I even had a chance to scour over the menu. I stated that seemed the staff was unfriendly and, 'I bet if I was white I wouldn't be treated n such a fashion!' . I also stated I understood the treatment since the whole eatery was white , save for a AA male picking up food for door dash and the cooking staff (Latin x) .
She replied, 'no sir, we're not all white here and I'm not going to go there with you on the race issue'.
After that unpleasant encounter on the 1st visit to the eatery , I decided to get up and go without spending my money there even though I wanted to try their signature hand- breaded chicken fingers. I was reminded of the black family out of naperville,il who were asked to leave and sit n a different area of the buffalo wings eatery because of a white regular who asked a manager to have the AA family move to an alternate table because he wasn't comfortable dining around black people in close proximity to him.
Now mind you what I exp wasn't on the same scale but can you imagine being of a specific race and entering an established where nobody looks like you and on top of that, being disrespected/ dismissed.
I called the eatery the next day and asked to speak with the owner to tell him/ her of my displeasure of the staff and how I perceived they (staff) treated me. I got the host and I gave him the condensed version of my time at the eatery the prior evening. Although the owner wasn't there, I learned his name was , mike, I left my number for him to call but I never received a call...
Read moreI’ve been coming to the village for over 15 years. Tonight was my worst experience ever. First off my pregnant wife got served a glass of coke that has pink lipstick on it, and she was not wearing any lipstick. So we informed our server who seemed to be in such a rush that all she said was okay I’ll get u a new drink. I went n spoke to manager and she apologized and ensured me that the dish washer they have is great. Well it can’t be that great if I could see a full set of lips on my wife’s glass! Our server from that point on kept asking me if we were ready for the check. Ummmm no lady I’m here for the fish fry so relax. After my kid got to the bottom of her fries we noticed to hairs on her plate very similar to Punic hairs. It’s funny how u complain about a drink then u get hair in your food. I insisted that I wanted to speak with a different manager this time. The manager told me that he would be completely paying for our meal and then I got a check on my table. I had a couple beers so I expected to pay for those. As I was reviewing the check I was being charged for the coke with a side of lipstick on the glass. I one again talked to the manager n he insisted that I must pay for most of my food n drinks. Honestly my waitres was a rude lady one she found out she didn’t serve us a clean glass. The end of the story is I asked the manager if we were being served steak and lobster would this have been an issue to comp our meal. He said no not at all. He still made us pay for our food and drinks. Someone needs to revaluate there managers and I hope this review keeps customers aware of how greedy these places are and how dirty they are in the kitchen and to...
