Noticing that there's only one Burger King in Carson City, I wondered why that's the case. I seem to remember there being a few more, but that was a long time ago, more than 15 years ago. As a child when I had a fast food burger, namely ordered from the Winnie McDonalds. For the rest of my life I refused to order a fast food burger for fear of getting food poisoning. After some years spent living in Austin, Texas, a foodie mecca, my eating habits changed. Eventually I tried restaurant burgers and enjoying them, I gave fast food joints another shot, discovering they're not so dangerous as I worried. I suppose the downshot is that they tend to be dry and so/so. Even Applebees and Chilis makes that mistake, though.
All that having said, I decided to give Burger King a shot today. The biggest reason for why I tried their burgers is because unlike many of their competitors, they don't rely exclusively on cheese to make their burgers good, or so I reasoned. Most of them are tomato, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mayo, etc. It's saddening that it took me this long to realize how ideal their burgers COULD be.
So what did I think? I guess the rating I gave them kinda spoils that, right? It was REALLY GOOD! Their Whoppers easily qualify to be best burger in Carson City, at least far as I know.
Breaking it down, here's why I think their burgers are the best of any I've had in Carson City: they are JUICY! That's no mean feat!!! Most places like Wendy's serve good burgers of a decent size, but what they lack is JUICINESS. The juiciness wasn't due to a bunch of grease either. The charbroiled flavor was refreshing and delicious. The seasoning was on point, for fast food fare. Their Whoppers are well worth eating/trying. If you love cheese, you can get some for a little extra. These burgers have enough moisture and flavor that they don't even need the mayo that comes on them. These can even stand on their own without ketchup. That's pretty darn amazing, right there!
I absolutely enjoyed the burger I ordered today.
The fries are standard. Nothing wrong with them, the salt content seems balanced. Nothing to say much about them except they're as good as any fast food fries.
I want to note something else. This restaurant is renovating as of today, maybe since days ago. They're installing digital menu screens above the counter. Anyone who might not have come here fearing it'd be old, rundown, poorly managed, outdated... SHOULD give this Burger King a shot if they want a VERY good burger. The burgers are genuinely worth the money, unlike McDonalds' Happy Meal-sized Quarter Pounders. Don't get ripped off by the likes of McDonalds. Eat...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars, I would. I should have followed my instincts upon walking in and seeing that the trash cans needed attention. They weren't full, but there was food and garbage around the top and a pile of trays. The drink station was a gross, lids and empty straws, dribbled soda, the counter was a sticky mess. There were unbussed tables and general trash all over the dining room. We couldn't find a clean surface to eat at as none of the tables had been wiped down, although judging from the conditions, I'd bet the rag they'd use wouldn't have been sanitary anyways. And that was BEFORE ordering anything. We braved it and ordered two Big King XL burgers. The ONLY difference was the buns: my husband ordered a plain bun. (He can't eat sesame seeds because of a medical condition.) But we received VERY different burgers. Mine was LOADED with pickles (almost TOO many, and that's a lot because I love pickles) and onions, which I had to pick most of them off. (Probably my bad for not asking for less.) Other than that, my burger was fine. My husband's, however, was not only void of ANY sauce OR onions, but had only one or two pickles on it. It was as if they exacted revenge for having to make the burger with a different bun. NO CONSISTENCY! I also ordered the chicken fries and while the seasoning was good, they tasted like they'd been fried for too long in really old oil. The final straw was the attitude of the manager when my husband complained. She actually said "what would you like me to do about it, sir?" in a pretty snarky voice. I'm assuming this is the same snarky person who acted insulted when I asked for salt (she pointed at the drink station and said "they're over there.") Wishing now I'd taken a picture of the state of the dining room. Burger King Corporate will be hearing from us, they need to know the atrocities taking place in their name. (I'm going to assume this is a franchised business because I've been in corporate owned and THAT wouldn't happen.) We won't be back to this...
Read moreWhile I think Burger King for the most part, yet not always have better Management & a bit better quality if food, I think they are also over priced. This last visit i also ran into an issue I never had before & that was I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with everything in it & I then received a tiny burger with 2 pickles & a bit of cheese I n it, no tomatoes no sauce no I io. & no lettuce. I was floored & didn't know what was going on. I of course, took it to management, he kindly replied that's what I ordered, I kindly said no & I repeated my order. After 2 times if us repeating he said that's what you get for the dollar menu burger. Well, I didn't request the dollar menu burger, I just said I will have a Bacon Cheeseburger with everything on it, period, the same way I had always ordered it. Well no apology, no giving me any amount if credit for paying 4 a burger I didn't order & no asking me I f I'd like something different which somewhat disappointed me for like I said, they too are a bit overpriced. When I order from here or McDonalds & get a burger fries, & a drink then end up paying anywhere between $15-$18. I expect something decent/good quality of which neither are not, oh & I include Wendy's also. At least Burger Kings burgers are better then the...
