One of McHenry’s new offerings, Kojack’s advertises “Greek Fries” boldly outside on its marquee, along with other Chicagoland classics. I visited with family a few days ago, and liked the experience overall. As someone who has been in the restaurant industry for years, I have a few things I’d change but not many.
Cleanliness: 9/10 with a very clean dining room that was cleaned well after guests left.
Food: I ordered the Italian Combo with Greek Fries. The sandwich was huge, beef was sliced thick and tasted great. Sausage wasn’t my favorite, but wasn’t bad either. Toppings offered were fantastic, and the roll was delicious. Greek Fries here are thin cut fries with feta, lemon juice, spices, and I believe olive oil. Loved them, and would absolutely order them again. Someone at the table next to us had commented on how good they were as well. Portion sizes were large and at a fair price.
My family member got the Reuben, which was somewhat devoid of 1000 Island and much sauerkraut….so his experience wasn’t as great as mine, but he said it wasn’t bad, and liked the option for chips on the side. To be fair, the provided kettle chips did look pretty good.
Menu options were pretty large, and I was intrigued by their gyro/hamburger hybrid burger. Staff was friendly and brought our meals to the table. I assume someone from management or possibly the owner stopped by our table to ask if everything was okay. Definitely a service you don’t see often at a Quick Service Restaurant.
The only things I’d change would be more garbage cans in the restaurant, adding a little more decoration on the wall, and maybe add a napkin dispenser at each table.
Kojacks has a pretty big menu, and did a decent job of impressing me the first visit. I’ll be back to try a few more things out, but so far it’s a...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with our visit. I'm only giving 2 stars as a balance between the excellent catering we had for an event compared to the dine in experience we had. The catering was great, food was well cooked, delicious and a great variety. Unfortunately that same quality is not delivered at the physical location.
We visited with the whole family but were disappointed from the start. The staff was less than friendly and our order was incorrect on 3 orders. We had placed 2 separate orders for chicken kabobs and somehow the second order placed several minutes later came out prior to our entire dinner order. Not sure how that happened and it was delivered with no explanation or apology. (No big deal, we were not in a huge hurry but after receiving 2 other incorrect orders it was more than just a nuisance.)
As we were eating along with the extended wait our children wanted to take a walk around the table at which point we found several locations that food had been dropped on the floor and was swarmed with ants. Not just one or two, several dozen on each location of food. This ended the meal for several in our party.
The staff were notified and took no action. They simply looked over from behind the counter and shrugged their shoulders. If the seating area is so poorly cleaned and maintained I'm frightened to know how the kitchen area is managed. We...
Read moreHope you are NOT in a hurry! I have been to the old location several times since I moved to Cary and never really had any complaints. I work very close to the new location and have had 2 co-workers tell me that the wait for food is way to long. Last night I went to the new location for the first time. WOW, co-workers were absolutely correct! The kitchen staff looked as if they had no idea what was going on. They seemed to be well staffed, just clueless. I felt sorry for the girl who was trying to pack up the orders. She was the only one who looked concerned about how long everyone was waiting for there order. I hope the owner reads this and corrects this issue. Really seamed to be lacking a manager or someone to lead.
UPDATE 5 years later. Decided to go back and give it another try. Ordered 2 Gyros, 1 double cheeseburger and 1 chicken wrap, $39.00 WOW. Almost 40 bucks and not 1 French fry. I'm sorry, but if you are going to charge $10 for a sandwich it had better be good. NOT THE CASE HERE. Gyros had very little meat on them, they tasted good, just not worth $10 each. My wife tossed the chicken wrap in the garbage, it was a soggy mess and the double cheeseburger was not any better, the bottom bun literally was so wet it was like dough, it just fell apart....
