First off, I want to say how much I love the Town of Cary — as both a former employee and a homeowner here, I care deeply about our community.
Despite being open for over a year, there are still clear signs of unfinished construction. Rebar and other leftover materials — which my toddlers, not me, found — are still scattered near the trails. Bright orange construction tape remains tangled in the brush. Even the storm drains at the McCrimmon/Cary Glen entrance are still covered. It gives the impression that no one from the Town has walked the site thoroughly since the ribbon was cut.
It’s also heartbreaking to see the environmental toll. Just recently, I rescued a snake that had become tangled in plastic mesh — the kind used to hold down straw during construction. I’m grateful to the kind woman who stopped to take a photo and help — thank you.
But it’s heartbreaking that this even had to happen. That same mesh is still piled up all over the area — it’s impossible to miss. How many other wild animals have suffered or died senselessly in it? This isn’t just about litter; it’s about the consequences of neglecting cleanup and accountability after construction is declared “done.”
We’re replacing habitat with pickleball courts but at what cost?
Please, let’s not allow contractors to simply walk away after collecting a paycheck. Someone (ToC) must be accountable for ensuring the job is truly complete. It’s about safety for our children, stewardship of the environment, and a commitment to doing things the right way — not just the fast way.
As the saying goes, “Trust,...
Read moreThe playground here is absolutely horrible. There is almost nothing for children to do. There is a very small climbing structure, no real slides, no real swings. It has two net buckets to sit on and swing and one of those fake rolly bar slides. If you have children under 4 years don’t bother trying this park out. What an honest complete waste of money. It looks like more money went into the ‘artistic’ carved benches than pieces for the playground. EDIT: The pinnie style folding hammocks have been replaced with more rigid hammocks that do not swing well because of the shape of the metal structure they are attached to. They also took out the one black bet in the center, it was literally the only reason we were coming here. My kids could kind of bounce and roll around in it. Honestly, I’m so disappointed in the town of Cary to make logical decisions. Especially ones that affect all the people living in townhomes and apartments (with no yards, so we rely on the parks system). Yet they keep approving the building of more yard less abodes boasting of their lackluster park system. The older built parks are great, and they are upkept. These new ones have very little thought put into them. Just so I’m not being a total negative Nancy, they have a nice charcoal grill near the bathrooms with heavy duty picnic tables. And the bathrooms...
