I came in to the Cary (Waverly Place) store on January 13th, 2022 for the first time. Everything was neatly organized and the displays were great. When you enter the store you will see an informational paper describing the treats the store has to offer including pictures and detailed descriptions. They also have a hand sanitizer bottle too which I thought was a huge plus.

I just stopped in on the spur of the moment to pick up some truffles etc. for part of a birthday celebration. Kelsey was the employee that assisted me. She was very patient with me and answered all my questions even when the store got busier. She even wrapped my chocolate gift box with two ribbon colors and gave me her opinion on which colors would go best together. She was also very polite and understanding.

I stopped by the next day and Alexia/Lexie was working. She was also very friendly and helpful.

I would give this place more than five stars if I could. One thing I would say to their customers, is to please be patient with their orders, especially the orders that are made in house like the apples. It takes time to get things right. I know this because I love cooking and consider myself a gourmet 👩‍🍳 and am still learning though.

Hats...

My friend got the Dubai chocolate for us to share, and it was just absolutely disgusting. There is no crunchiness, no creaminess...it is just old powdery filling of some kind(it just tasted old and stale), and stale chocolate. No amount of edible glitter could save this disaster. For the price, they should be ashamed, what a scam.

Edit:

Okay, I had to add this because this is just absolutely crazy. How is this place a functioning business? There was some other stuff in the bag that I had yet to try, because I gave them to the benefit of the doubt and assumed to maybe this was just a one-off... It's not, everything was absolutely gross. I started off giving them a two star, but this is a one-star establishment. They're charging these prices for this kind of garbage...in this economy? Just insane. Avoid this place at all costs, go by Hershey's bar, it'll be a thousand times better.

And to specify, this is the Cary location. Maybe the other locations are better, but this was just absolutely terrible. I to spit out...

Their Dubai chocolate bar is a very low-quality knockoff.

Dubai chocolate's main ingredient is pistachio paste. I have an extensive background in confections, and in my expert opinion, this was NOT pistachio paste. It was most likely almond paste with green dye and a cheap pistachio extract. I'm not exaggerating when I say I spit it out after one bite.

On top of that, the knafeh was mushy, not crunchy like you'd expect. Their chocolate work is amateur at best, and as you can see in photo 2, the chocolate was laid with no precision or expertise. With a price point of $10, this wouldn't be a bad deal if it was genuine pistachio paste. Given that it’s a low-quality, awful-tasting knockoff, I would say this is a scam, and they should be ashamed.

If you’re looking for quality, local chocolate, I would check out Kilwins.
