This review is for the restaurant only. I have not done catering. I was underwhelmed by mostly everything except for the ambiance/furnishing.
To start…we walked in and no one was behind the counter. We had to wait a little for a lady to come out. When she did she was not friendly at all. No smile. No, is this your first time. Just not very helpful…especially when most, if not all, of the guests are new.
We ordered our food (my daughter and I). One positive is that they have a kids menu! I ordered the breakfast version of a steak and cheese and my daughter ordered a egg and cheese sandwich that came with tater tots. We also ordered a side of fruit (which you would think would be an option for a kids breakfast meal), 2 bottled drinks, and a coffee tasting.
The steak breakfast sandwich was subpar and I mean very subpar. There was very little steak with ton of cheese and parmesan cheese sprinkled all over the plate and on top of the sandwich (pictured). I didn’t quite understand the sprinkling of cheese bc as soon as I picked it up, it fell right onto my clothes. 😌 I ate less than half of the sandwich and was done. My daughter didn’t like the egg and cheese sandwich - they use what looks like a few slices of cheddar cheese (we requested cheese with the scrambled eggs). We assumed they would scramble the eggs with cheese not lay slices of cheese on the bread.
The coffee trio left more to be desired! It was cute and instagrammable. I loved the caramel macchiato and the mocha latte but the latte and cold brew were not that great.
One other thing to note for the owners if they read this is that…we were given a number to place on our tables to receive our food. We were offered two different times someone else’s food and someone offered ours before it came to our table. Why give out numbers if no one bothers to actually look at them when delivering to the table?
The cost of breakfast (all of the things above) was pretty costly. I have never spent so much on a breakfast for a kids breakfast, adult breakfast, coffee, and drinks. It was $18 for for the coffee, $30-$35 for food and bottled drinks). I left feeling like it indeed was not worth an almost $60 breakfast.
We probably won’t return unless the food gets better and the service gets better. A smile and being helpful would have me coming back even with mediocre food. But when both suffers - there’s not a need for return.
I hope things can be turned around. It has the potential to be a nice little staple in Cary!
++ I called a week earlier to ask if they had wifi and was told they did not. I went in Monday and saw that they...
Read moreNestled in the heart of the city, Pineapple Sol proved to be a gastronomic haven with its delectable offerings. Curiosity led me to explore their renowned pancake flights and breakfast burrito, accompanied by the intriguing Parmesan truffle fries. The experience was one filled with delightful surprises and a few minor letdowns.
Let's start with the highlight of the meal – the pancake flights. Presented like an artist's palette, these fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth delights showcased an array of flavors that tantalized the taste buds. From classic buttermilk to indulgent chocolate chip and tangy blueberry, each pancake offered a unique symphony of taste. The flight concept allowed me to savor the diversity of flavors in one sitting, a delightful option for pancake enthusiasts and indecisive diners alike.
Now, onto the breakfast burrito. While I had high hopes for this dish, it fell slightly short of expectations. The burrito itself seemed a tad lackluster in terms of seasoning and spice, leaving me yearning for more robust flavors. However, I must commend the generous portion of gooey, flavorful cheese within, which provided a creamy and comforting element to the ensemble. A bit of improvement in seasoning could elevate the breakfast burrito to the level of excellence set by the pancake flights.
Amidst the highs and lows, the Parmesan truffle fries emerged as a true revelation. Served in a rustic basket, these golden beauties exuded an enticing aroma of truffle that awakened the senses. Each fry was meticulously coated with a sprinkle of Parmesan, adding a salty kick that complemented the earthy truffle notes perfectly. These fries were an absolute hit at our table, and we couldn't help but order an extra serving to share amongst ourselves.
The ambiance at Pineapple Sol was warm and inviting, reflecting the passion of the culinary artisans behind the dishes. The friendly staff added to the overall experience, making us feel welcome and attended to throughout our visit.
In conclusion, Pineapple Sol offers a dining adventure worth embarking upon, with the pancake flights serving as an absolute must-try. The breakfast burrito may need some refining in terms of seasoning, but its cheesy interior brings redemption to the plate. The Parmesan truffle fries stand as an irresistible crowd-pleaser that alone justifies a visit. I shall certainly return to Pineapple Sol to explore more of their culinary creations and indulge in their creative...
Read moreI followed this business before they opened this Brick and Mortar location. I was also interested in the picnics and charcuterie boards. They have beautifully prepared food that I've followed since moving to this area. Upon entering the doorway the crowds make one assume this was the best brunch in town! They have beautiful desserts upfront in refrigerator displays that look extremely delicious and I'm sure that they are.
If you are not concerned with service and your typical beautiful Sunday brunch experience this is your place. The service is poor, very poor! The cashier and order runners lack enthusiasm. Maybe this was an off day. I'm not sure. The seating area is a challenge. It's ordering your food and finding your seat. There aren't servers serving you, besides bringing food to the table. That is it!
I was concerned with the individuals bringing food out and cleaning tables not following sanitation guidelines. For example: bringing table 1 food out to them. Then cleaning a table where folks just left. Touching dirty plates and trash. Going inside putting those down. You're then right back outside taking a new table for their food order. This bothered me! Why not have someone busing tables only. Why cross-train order runners as table cleaners too? Too much was going on there.
We had a hard time finding a clean table. Our coffee flight arrived before we could get our table cleaned. We ordered our coffee flight with almond milk. I love that the coffee comes unsweetened. The coffee was pretty good. The pancakes were also delicious and the granola and berries made for crunchy nutrients topping to eat with my pancakes, which were different and good. I added a side of turkey bacon. I could only finish off half of the pancakes which are very thick and fluffy. The food I ordered could easily be a 4 but the overall experience alongside the poor service falls in at only a 3 star. I'm open to seeing the evolution of the restaurant. I know Pineapple Sol is new. With local support hopefully there will be some improvements in the experience. I would go again,...
