I stayed at La Quinta by Wyndham Raleigh Cary with my 6-year-old daughter, and it was one of the most stressful, unprofessional, and unacceptable hotel stays I’ve ever experienced.
I first stayed from 07/23 to 07/25. During that time, we had no hot water. I reported it to the staff, and several different men came in and out of our room trying to fix it for over an hour. I was eventually told it had been resolved — but it wasn’t. The water was still cold.
Based on their claim that the issue was fixed, I chose to extend my stay and booked a second reservation from 07/25 to 08/01. But for the next several days, the hot water issue continued. On top of that, housekeeping never came, trash piled up, and I was never given fresh towels.
My 6-year-old daughter and I had to shower in cold water for days and live in unsanitary conditions — even though I paid full price. When I complained again, a staff member told me the lack of hot water was “because too many rooms use the same tank,” which was clearly false — the room I was finally moved to had hot water with no problem.
I was only moved to a room with hot water on July 29 — the last day of my stay. At that point, it was too late. I checked out 3 days early, and no longer felt comfortable or respected staying there.
I paid $684 for that second stay and was only refunded $188, which doesn’t even cover the 3 nights I didn’t use — let alone the nights I stayed without hot water or basic services.
I’m attaching some images of my trash piling up and no clean towels given because no housekeeping came in days. Went to front desk on 07/27/2025 to ask why I didn’t get service and was told it was because they had been “backed up” that day even tho I saw room service on my floor that day and mind you I never had the DND sign because they say not to have it if you want your room cleaned. Anyhow I was told they’d come clean the following day which would be 07/28/2025. Did they come? No. They didn’t. I was barely at the room all day and didn’t have any sign at the door. Still I didn’t get any cleaning done until today when I finally spoke to a manager but also decided to check out.
I’ve tried resolving this with Booking.com and the hotel directly, but I’ve been passed around, ignored, and under-refunded. I have photos, receipts, and proof of early checkout.
If this issue is not corrected, I will be pursuing formal escalation — including a dispute with my bank, official complaints with the BBB, and public consumer channels.
No professionalism at all.
This is not just about cold water. It’s about being misled, disrespected, and financially shortchanged. My child and I deserved better — and Wyndham should not allow its name to be associated with this kind...
Read moreWe have many complaints about this place and would give No Stars, if that were possible. Our first night Dec 8, 2021 was OK, but the following morning housekeeping woke us up very early and insisted on entering the room, even though we yelled at her to go away. She even had the gall to try to unlatch the safety lock and gain entry. Every hour or so she continued to open the door trying to force her way in and would not leave!! I had never seen a housekeeper like that in my life. Apparently she did not speak English, that didn't help the situation at all. The following days she never came back, and the room remained soiled and we had no toilet paper, towels or wash cloths until the day we left.
The next night I was awakened by insects biting my arms and neck. When I awoke, I had many bed bug bites up and down my arms. They itched and burned like crazy. I complained to the manager, a Mr. Danielle. I showed him my bites, but he made no apologies, however, he moved us to another room. We had to pack up and move our things out, including a refrigerator full of food. No one was available to help us. This was very inconvenient, as I am 71 years old. We asked for a refund for our room charges but the manager became irate and acted like a child having a tantrum. I am in contact with an attorney, to see if a lawsuit can be filed against this property and the clown in charge of it.
The room we had moved into was not much better, although it was without the bed bugs. The (heater) air handling unit was so loud, I could not sleep a wink. It sounded like a chain saw with it's constant banging and groaning. I wished I had brought ear plugs with me.
In fairness, the hotel itself was situated in a nice park like setting, but the facilities were generally old and run down, much in need of renovation and repair. The toilet in one room swiveled on the floor, as it was not bolted down adequately!! We noticed many other defects in the rooms and in the hallways, including foul odors from pet urine or who knows what, peeling wallpaper and a lot of deferred maintenance. The vending and ice area smelled like a trash heap. They advertised morning breakfast, which consisted of a cold muffin and a tiny bottle of disgusting water. And the management is abysmal and disrespectful. I would not recommend such a place to my...
Read moreThis was fine with kids. The facility was lovely on the outside, and the rooms were attractive. Even so, it seemed the bathroom doors were a little ghetto-rigged, different handles, not lockable, something breaking on the back. We also couldn't change the tentative or turn off our air conditioning. the buttons were self explanatory but we couldn't get them to work, which was annoying as it was chili and we had no extra blanket. There was a refrigerator freezer and microwave .
I asked for a crib at check-in, which I heard the staff call for. But hours later it still handy arrived in my room. In addition, there was only one person on staff at the time for a very big hotel! We were able to pick one up, free of charge, but a little annoyed they couldn't bring one to us.
The always had coffee in the lobby, which was good. I always wish hotels have breakfast later than nine on weekdays (for heaven sakes, we are vacation! I don't want to wake up just got breakfast!).
I liked the late check-out, although I wish it was on their mobile website (spent a long time looking). Wifi was easy and great on the fourth floor. The popped tire on the elevator cart could have been improved.
I did wish the staff in general were friendlier. They just seemed very indifferent and like they could care less. Another complaint was that at about nine a.m. + - housekeeping had already knocked on my door, which seemed a little earlier, even though I didnt put the sign out. So I did. And then they proceeded to vacuum right outside our door. AND hit our door with the vacuum. No hope getting my baby back to sleep after that. In general, I think sound carried out of the rooms to hallways too week, probably unfortunately for our neighbors.
Another major ambulance was that there was no info on the room, not the typical local ideas guide or brochures In the lobby. I wish that existed, so I didn't drive in circles with Google maps, trying to figure out what Raleigh is even all about.
Overall the stay was more than sufficient and fine. Nice, even. But there were these annoyances, which just leaves it at okay level, not amazing or great.
P.s. we didn't get a chance to...
