I've eaten here a few times, and while their 'award winning burgers' are good, i think a lot of it is mental.
That said yesterday i had lunch here we asked if there were any specials for that day, she wasn't sure stumbled for a minute looked around and found the specials board to read them back to us. I ordered a corned beef sandwich, the waitress as she was taking my order asked me "what side would you like with that?" i asked what my options were. "fries, chips, onion rings, fruit, or vegetables" i didn't really want any of them, but figured if i was going to choose one onion rings would be fine. the food came out the sandwich was good, maybe 4 oz of corned beef on a pretzel roll, and 4 onion rings, huge. almost 2" thick, while some people might like this i did not, but that's not the point, i bit into the first one and it along with the rest of them were green, (the outer skin of the onion that most of us discard and throw away when we're chomping onions.) no big deal as i said i didn't really want the side anyway.
When the bill came i glanced it over, a charge for $2.50 for onion rings.. bringing the total for me meal to $11.45 (for 4 oz of corned beef on a pretzel bun) as i gave the waitress her receipt and our payment i commented to her "perhaps in the future you should let customers know that there's a $2.50 up charge for onion rings" she responded with a dismissive "ok" and then after the credit card signature was given "are they really $2.50 they must have raised the price the used to be $1.50" I'm sorry i would assume it would be part of your job to know the prices of sides and if and when the price was raised along with the daily specials, however still wanting to blame myself for the mixup i grabbed a menu as we were leaving and flipped through it, no where in the menu are sides listed, which means nowhere in the menu are prices for said sides listed, so the responsibility of informing the customer of the prices falls completely on the wait staff.
The typical representation of such a situation in any other restaurant would be as follows "it comes with either fries or chips OR for $2.50 more you can add onion rings"
The 2 other people i was having lunch with have both worked in the service industry for over 10 years each and both agreed with me that the representation by the waitress and her response to the issue was unacceptable. And we were all shocked to find no information when...
Read moreWhat kind of shady business doesnt have a phone number? Terrible Experience. Server was rude, I feel I got robbed. Tried calling before I went there, couldnt find a phone number. Told siri to call, found number, called and rang for 3 minutes, no answer. Went there and they tell us they dont do the Loaded Bloody mary after 3. I told them I tried calling and she rudely said "yeah we dont answer the phone" Ready to leave. She offers a regular bloody mary, she says it doesn't come with the burger the shrimp or the hard boiled egg like the loaded one, but it does come with the cheese and salami and its not ten bucks either, its 6.25 for a regular or 7 with Tito's. I decide its a good idea to get a bloody mary anyway, so i get one and it takes 10 minutes to get to my table, i get it and its in the smallest glass full of ice it looks watered down and all thats in there is a pickle and a lemon (no cheese or salami) I down the whole thing in two sips (thats all thats in there) and order another finish that and she's buzzing on my shoulder "you want another one?" I said no. She must have asked me 3 more times and I still said no, she asked again and I asked for the check. It was 18 dollars for two. I thought it was 6.25 for one or 7 with the titos. So i call her over and say their must be a mistake, so she rudely tells me "its 7 just for the vodka and we charge for the bloody mix on TOP of that and you got 2" then procedes to tell me that they ran out of the salami and the cheese and how I should've been here earlier and names off the loaded bloody mary about how it comes in a much bigger mason jar and all the fix ins that come with it and how its only 10 dollars and before I get a chance to say anything about why I got none of that and they still charged me 9 each for 2 glasses a 1/4th of the size of the one they said I "could've had" if I got there earlier... Classic bait and switch. Then I tried calling to tell the manager-Cant do that, they dont answer their phone. Horrible establishment. If I could rate zero stars, I would. Literally dissapointed 3 times in a matter of 20 minutes and robbed me, and I STILL HAD TO TIP HER ON TOP OF ALL THAT! Never coming here again unless I get compensated for...
Read moreWalking in on a bustlin Thursday evening to grab some dinner and drinks before training it to Chicago, our dining experience missed the mark on what I would consider to be pretty basically expectations for a restaurant. No drink menu whatsoever. Like, cool, I get it, you have a bar but outside of that, there's one personalized signage for draft beers which we were situated right in front of for passerbyers to stay through our heads at. I have NO clue what non-draft beer options you have. Why are we making this difficult on staff by having to inquire with them? Speaking of things not on a menu - uh - where are your sides? So I'm looking at a string of amazing sounding burgers but like, is this ala carte? Oh no? There's several side options?! Like what? So again, why is this not listed on your menu for reference? Again, something else I have to bother staff to clarify. Having to ask for water - yes, granted, this is semi-frequent depending on the establishment but should still be offered upon arrival. Also, my bottle of cider was luke-warm when received and I was never asked if I'd like it in a glass which, I ended up requesting a glass of ice for on account of the warm nature. Appetizer plates. Why are they not automatically served before and/or with the appetizer? We were asked if we wanted any and heard another table being asked the same. Are we trying to save on dishes here? Weird. While I WILL attest, the food was very delicious, both of our burgers were absolutely SMOTHERED in their specified sauce which again, GOOD sauce but like, maybe take it down a notch or offer it on the side so people can use at their discretion?
In all honestly, I will very likely, not return here. As busy as the place was, staff seemed very hodge-podgey - just standing around and/or frantically trying to figure out what food was going to what table. Just too much chaos and lack of details...
