Though I’ve known about it for 15, this is the first time I’ve finally stopped in for breakfast. Tucked away in a side road not far from the end of 28th Street makes for a nice not so out of the way location. Inside is a quaint rustic vibe. Well kept and just enough decor makes for a warm environment. The dining area has a two seating areas, with both being about equal in size. They have a case with a small selection of baked goods, which likely offers more selections during the Summer and Holiday seasons. Staff is constantly on the move, and always pleasant. My waitress did commendable at keeping my coffee refreshed (and very hot) while waiting for breakfast to arrive. They serve fresh cream with and have the usual sweetener option packets at the table should you want. Seeing the kitchen was serving both sides, and about twenty guests when I arrived, the wait time was average (about 10 minutes) for my food to arrive. The omelette I chose was nicely prepared. They were not skimpy on any of the ingredients making it a great value. They also were cooked just enough to have a nice texture. If you are used to typical roadside diners you may find the veggies a little watery. This is not a complaint as I thoroughly enjoyed all of my omelette before delighting in the sourdough toast. The eggs were prepared clean and had no hint of being overly oiled or buttered in their cooking. The toast had a nice crispness, was not burnt, and lightly buttered on one side. Jam at the table was the standard 1/2 oz prepackaged variety, but other options were available (like cream cheese) for a nominal charge. In short, this is a nice stop and I would not hesitate bringing family, clients, or...
Read moreAt about 10:15 this morning my 3 year old and I came in for breakfast. We have been here before and never had a bad experience and the food was always good. We had a waitress that was middle aged who was not pleasant at all, she was very short never smiled and seemed very annoyed by us. I asked her to bring us a booster seat and when she came back my daughter was stacking the little jellies and playing with them. She does this at every restaurant we go to and no one has EVER had a problem with this. When she returned to our table she grabbed my daughter’s arm and took the basket of jellies from her and said she could not play with them because that is against “code.” I was absolutely shocked that she thought she could touch my child in that way aggressively. My daughter knows not to open the jelly or make a mess, and I am supervising her anyways. I then proceeded to get my child and we left without ordering anything and went somewhere else. We will never be back again after this...
Read moreService and food were a example of what the food service industry should strive for. I had a Southwest Omelette with ¼ cantaloupe and my gf had 2 two stack of pancakes with ham. The flavor in my omelette was outstanding! I had to hold back from turning into a whole uncultured swine from the delicate and savory flavor that made my palette quiver in delight. The cantaloupe was properly ripe and juicy which made a perfect appetizer for us to share. My gf's pancakes were the size of hubcaps and could've probably been eaten without syrup if she wanted. Also, the seemingly impossible way in which they were dense, yet fluffy made them all the more desirable. I didn't think to retain our server's name unfortunately but, she is a stand out in her demeanor and cheerful attitude! Amazing in her attention to detail and superb conversation, she amazed us with her skill. She shouldn't be hard to spot. Will definitely be returning here should I find myself...
