Holy cow that was amazing! Lefty's was probably the best experience I've had in a while, both back home and here in Caseville. There were a lot of factors but the tl;dr is Yes it is that good. First off - presentation. The building is eye-catching, the decor is aesthetically pleasing, and the waitresses' pouch... thing... anyway it has a palm beach sunset design and is very pretty. Second - you get greeted when you come in which is nice. Our server was very friendly, able to help the indecisive pick something and offer extras. She went the whole nine yards and it made it great. Third - The FOOD! Wow. I went with the butterfly shrimp dinner (very reasonably priced) on her suggestion (I wish I could remember her name! Sorry!) and I don't regret it AT ALL. It was so good that I'm thinking of dropping my "try new places/foods as often as possible" and just going back for that. The shrimp was excellent, the fries were crunchy and delicious. My sister finally got her Superman ice cream (apparently a MI specialty) and the waitress got me to try a mixture called MI Pot Hole. It was -so good-. Rich chocolate ice cream, chocolate pieces, mini pb cups. I had thought to get Mackinac Island Fudge but you can get that anywhere. This was worth it. Fourth - all in all (and as I mentioned) everything was very reasonably priced. At no point did I look at a meal and go "who would pay that much??". In fact that was why it took me so long to settle on one thing - I couldn't rule anything out on price! Keep it up Lefty's! Can't...
Read moreOof. Ugly food, poorly prepared - my husband had the chicken sandwich and fries, which he said were pretty tasteless and greasy, and I made the mistake of having the spaghetti, which was made with jarred sauce and wasn’t drained before being slopped in the styrofoam box; I had to drain it before I could eat it. Weirdly, the bottom of the box was lined in paper, which made eating it even messier. I’d have given two stars out of courtesy, but the restaurant was in clear violation of DHHS mandates for 25% occupancy, and the kitchen staff were maskless. Most of the people in the restaurant were maskless without food in front of them, and takeout customers were in and out without masks. And of course, there had to be a staffer with a fishnet “mask” - sigh. Anyway, beyond those issues, the food was surprisingly expensive - over $30 for spaghetti with meat sauce, a chicken sandwich with fries, and two medium sodas. We make a point of getting food at independent establishments especially now, but man, this was...
Read moreWe had a nice dinner. We arrived at 5:44 and were excited to see that the parking area was not overflowing. Our family of four found a table with two chairs against a wall with a booth. We were quickly greeted by our server and drink orders were placed. When our drinks were delivered, our order was taken. The sampler platter was delivered and smee dug in. The batter has been changed and is now crispier than before. The pickles, onion rings, cauliflower, mushrooms were delicious. I selected the perch dinner. It is a little disappointing that local perch is not used, but the perch is perfect coated and cooked. The hand cut fries were the perfect combination of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My daughter enjoyed her grilled chéese bacon and egg sandwich and her chocolate malt. My son only made it through half of his PB&J but are all of his fries. My wife said her grilled chicken sandwich was very good. The salad was fresh and crispy and the seasoning on the grilled...
