āPapa, Can you Hear Meā
Old school manners and excellent work ethics is what best defines my experience with this particular Papa Peteās location. There were about seven young employees behind the counter making the food and tending the restaurant. They were getting along just great but unlike many other places, these guys remained focused. So, I found myself observing them, intensely. I didnāt notice any distracting behaviors, discussions, or annoyances (such as, when a customer is ignored till a [personal] phone call is finished). However, I did observe constant motion. Whoever wasnāt making the food was cleaning. Whoever wasnāt cleaning was making prep ingredients or packaging, etc. The customers, myself included were tended to immediately. Once my to-go order was placed, the wait was a little long but Iām figuring this was due to the volume of customers. And/or half the ovens not being used. This was explained to me that the extra ovens are used when itās even busier. I found this explanation acceptable and responsible as well. It takes a lot of resources to heat these up for just temporary surges in business. In fact this momentary rush settled down after I placed my order. The pizza was excellent too. Their slate-type ovens give that crust that the conveyor-convection types just canāt.
My only criticisms? Offer Anchovies. And I wasnāt impressed with the to-go procedure for dine-in customers. That is, giving the customer tin foil and paper plates. However, the customer I talked to about this didnāt mind. So, if theyāre cool with it, so am I. Maybe next time Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my FAVORITE PIZZA place of ALL-TIME. The castlerock location is in a great spot and it has been amazing getting to try the many unique pizzas over the years as well as some classics. One of the few places I'd go for a pitcher of root beer and take my time savoring every slice. This spot is a testament to some of the best pizza trends on the west coast.
They have a classic pizza dough incomparable to so many different places and load on the toppings without over doing it. Tiny pepperonis and a host of toppings to please just about any pizza goer. I've been lucky to get to try some of their shrimp pizza, the bar keep (only known for the best sliced fresh, beefy tomatoes), and am always swept by nostalgia with their combination (probably why I just prefer mushrooms on pizza now...). With incredible cheese and classic selections notable to the region and the pizza lore to the region.
Oh, they also have the best salads. I'm just too full of pizza to try and handle both. Personally I like the fresh cut salami on mine with olives and the works... but they are pretty accommodating too.
From the little vending machines to the beautiful layout, I'd stop here any time I'm hungry and passing them on I-5. Just off the highway and on the return trip from the Ape Caves out near one of the prettiest Mountains... Mt. St. Helen's.
Its a great place. I really don't like writing too much about my favorite spots, but this one means a lot to me and is more than just a quick pizza stop. It was sad seeing their location close in centrailia... but makes heading their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNormally this is the best pizza in the Northwest. Has been for over thirty five years, and everyone in the vicinity knows it. When any family members come for a visit from out of town it is always a request that we go there. Recently I had purchased two family sized pizza's, picked them up in Castle Rock and returned home to Kelso. Ive never had to call with a complaint, but this time the pizza's were not all the way cooked. They were doughy. A bit hard to eat. I called with my complaint, and they admitted that they have been having trouble with their oven lately and they have had to turn it down because it was burning pizza's. They wanted me to return with the pizza's. I did not really feel like driving all the way back up to Castle Rock. For the same reason why I got pizza in the first place. I wasnt feeling well. They said nothing could be done unless I brought them back. This was surprising to me, because they had admitted to an already known problem that they had been having, and said I wasnt the only one to have complained. To be honest I dont know what I really wanted them to do, but I wanted them to do something. Maybe credit my account and give me something off on my next order. Just something. NOTHING..... I found that after spending close to a hundred dollars for pizza and they admitting to a known problem on their end that nothing would be done without having to drive another 20 miles round trip. Disappointing for sure after all my years of patronage, and loyalty. Feeling easily dismissed. Wont be going back...
