Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Castroville

This is where I popped my Sonic cherry and years later, I still think I picked a good location. Service was fast and friendly.

I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a 50% off Tuesday burger discount. Worth the $3.79 regular price, but qualifies as a damn fine burger at $1.89 (before tax.)

The burger and everything with it was fresh. Warm bun and burger, cold and crisp veggies.

Outdoor seating as well; everything looked very clean.

In SoCal, we have very few Sonic. To compare, I'd say Sonic is not as good as In-n-Out, but (at least this location) is better than just about any other fast-food burger joint we have. It's much closer to a restaurant burger than most fast food burgers. Actually, when it's done right, I'd say the Sonic burger is better than In-n-Out. But In-n-Out wins on the bun, the super crisp veg, cheese, etc. Basically everything...

My main stop for not just the drinks and Route 44! But for their pretzel dogs and chili cheese fries and Coney dog!

The Carhops at this particular Sonic are super friendly even near closing time! Food is delivered promptly and with the new updated screens, you can even keep an eye on when your food will be delivered (kind of like the Domino's Tracker) so whether it is 100 degrees outside, freezing cold or just plan muggy or rainy you can keep your car windows up and music or conversation with your car's occupants going and just glance at the screen from time to time. You also can choose to pay by card or cash via the screen by tapping the appropriate choice for you and with a "red button activated" note on the screen you'll never have to worry about if you had already pressed the...

I give this sonic a one star today because I went for some chicken bites with the 4.99 coupon I had, they served me some hard and dried out chicken bites(couldn't even finish them)...its like those last few pieces that are sitting there under the heating lamp they have there in the kitchen...they were disgusting. I love gookg.to Sonic, been going for years so yeah I am highly disappointed because I was very hungry and as a Castroville resident that's the only Sonic in town. So I dont know if it was the employees that's running this shift that needs improvement,but definitely the quality of the food does. 👎 There was alot of young looking people working there like college or high school kids, so they're JUST trying to get a paycheck, but dang they can...
