UPDATE Had another wonderful experience at this location. I HIGHLY recommend to stop here if you are passing through the town. Sherly and her staff are absolutely sweet and have some of the BEST SERVICE I’ve ever had. They treat my grandparents with much respect along with the rest of their customers. Please give them a try, I will for sure be a repeat customer as much as possible. 😁😁😁 1 month ago Absolutely incredible breakfast. Coffee was nice and hot, and the servers made sure to always check up on you with more. Food came out nice and hot, and the tortillas were nice and warm. I will for sure come back to this place every time I visit Castroville. Habla Españo muy perfecto! Chilaquiles con Coffee

I rarely notice the quality or tortillas at the many dozens of Mexican restaurants we frequent, but this was the exception. Fluffy, favorable and rich would describe not just the tortillas but every dish we had. From the breakfast plate including potatoes, eggs and sausage to the puffy chicken tacos and breakfast tacos we were amazed. The wait staff was prompt and never let our cups go empty. I commend the cooks for an awesome lunch and thank our waitress, Marisela and even some of the other waitresses that did not ignore us even though our table was not assigned to them. Well deserved 5 stars.

Come to this place! The prices are low, the quality is high. The senoritas working the counter and room were so sweet and hospitable. It's pretty good chill Mexican food. I'm very glad the place I wanted to go was closed and I stumbled into here. Support this business. They deserve it.

Taqueria Jalisco is back and better than ever!

We’ve been coming to this location for about five years now, and it quickly became one of our all-time favorites. It was the perfect spot to bring out-of-town family, a cozy family-owned restaurant with some of the best Mexican food around.

But we have to be honest. By late 2023 into early 2024, something changed. The quality dropped, and our hearts sank. In February and March 2024, they were out of everything. One time they had no corn chips but made us flour chips instead, which were surprisingly amazing. The next visit there was no queso, no guacamole, and no chips at all. We had to leave and stopped going entirely. It truly felt like we lost a favorite spot.

Then everything changed.

In late 2024 or early 2025, we decided to give it another try and our jaws dropped. The vibe had completely transformed. It was busy, full of energy, and the staff were smiling again. The food is the best it has ever been. The atmosphere isn’t sad or dull anymore, it’s fun, welcoming, and alive. The night-shift cook deserves serious credit. The way he plates meals is incredible. Every dish looks like it came from a high-end restaurant.

Even with all the upgrades, the prices are unbeatable. You can really tell someone stepped in and gave this place the love and attention it needed.

We were so blown away we ate there two weeks in a row, every single weeknight. That’s how good it was. We are beyond happy that our favorite Mexican restaurant is back in action. Thank you for bringing it back to life.

PS. You need to try the flour chips. The chef nails...

Downright depressing. I always came here growing up in Castroville and the food was always fantastic! I guess a lot can change in a decade. My date and I were the only two customers in the restaurant (now I know why). You could tell that the salsa was literally just crushed tomato from a can with some bottled hot sauce mixed in... When we got our food, the rice was old and dry, the beef in my enchiladas tasted like canned ravioli cooked in dirty dishwater, the beans were the blandest I'd ever tasted in my life, shrimp was unseasoned and overcooked, even the guacamole tasted like the prepackaged crap you find at the store. The only thing that actually tasted house made was the tortillas and that's a hard thing to mess up. To top it all off, our server was exceptionally rude every time we interacted. Probably the owner's kid who never asked to work there in the first place.

All in all, a 35 dollar lesson. The date was definitely ruined by this experience and we will never...
