I have been coming to Big Earl's for about 5 years, they have undergone some small changes here and there to keep the environment fresh, fun, and family friendly.
The changes in my time include converting the volleyball court in the back to a fun hangout with tables and games for people of all ages. Recently opening a branded candy shop next door and hosting a free drive-in movie experience almost every weekend unless there is an event or inclement weather. This weekend my girlfriend and I were lucky enough to have a Saturday off together so we decided to go for the experience, not necessarily for the movie, however the movie was fun and a good choice for a wide audience.
Everytime I have ever been here the staff has always been amazing, very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The line can occasionally get long but the wait time to receive the food has never been too long, and with the fun environment, you never feel rushed to get your food and go, unlike many other restaurants. The owner, who I have met a few times, is also very kind.
My favorite burger used to be the turkey burger, but now I always get a mushroom swiss burger, the burgers are always cooked well, and served with no shortage of anything that makes a burger great. The fries, regardless of which ones you go with are the best I have had anywhere in the state. If you are feeling up for a milkshake, they have a pretty good selection with or without malt, you can even add in alcohol! The menu definitely has something for everyone, and the adult beverage menu and bar is equally as diverse with many options.
The overall aesthetic and history of the restaurant puts it in it's own category. Not to mention the 50s music being played throughout, it all just adds to the experience.
Other notable things about Earl's I forgot to mention earlier, the outdoor patio is dog friendly and they also have a breakfast menu!
They are conveniently located just 15-20 minutes north of Phoenix and even more conveniently located at the bottom of Black Mountain, so a stop there after a hike is a must.
The new branded candy shop next door is also part of the fun, lots of stuff to see and buy in here. Decently priced bulk candy including a lot of fresh candy made here in arizona.
I have only had a few minor issues over the years but they have always been quick to correct their errors without hesitation or hassle.

Β Β Β Read moreI was just thinking about how much it was like a place we always stopped by the called The Daisy Dairy Bar where on one side was just ordering anything with ice cream and then the other side is for ordering food off the menu which was very similar each other. I really didn't know that much about Big Earl's until my son talked about how he was going to be filling out a application. But back to the seating room was outside with a few people that were already in seating by the outdoor heaters and it was a little bit later than I thought and it was so nice to be able to get without waiting for what feels like a life π the first time we've been there and ordered our food off the one menu which was under a piece of plastic and I was just going to ask if they any more menus and I was told that I would be able to look at the food that you are able to get, and I did catch me off guard and then I was looking at the machine which is the only way to see the total amount and it was taken a few minutes to get into the car too wait for the pickup the food and then my husband was there really looking over the receipt and was wondering what the heck happened to the original amount of check and that's when we were a bit surprised that the cashier was automatically adding on the gratuity. And I will say that I will not be able to agree with because it was not a sit down dinner in a restaurant with servants waiting on at the table to take our order, so bottom line is that I'm not sure how much of tip's get divided everyone and not just the cashier. But I'm pretty sure it's going to be a great idea to be able to get to keep Big Earl's Greasy Eats and I will be able to make sure that I have good memories of your self as an adult! Even with the few things that we need to get confirmation with the bill. I will give everyone that works for, Big Earl's Greasy Eats and I will give you a ππ let everyone know that it's a mixture of old school merged with...
Β Β Β Read moreExtremely overpriced! If the prices on Google were accurate I would give this a much higher rating, maybe 4 star. For $40 for 2 people after tip is crazy! Google prices are about 35% cheaper. Everything is al la carte. You order and pay at the counter, serve your own water, and bus your own table. Take this into account before tipping (we tipped 20% prior to realizing this). The entire eating area is outside with fans and mister. It looks like a rustic gas station, no frills. 2 bathrooms, 1 single male and female. Female faucet was broken. When food arrived burgers came in paper boat/ bowls like you'd get at the fair. No plastic ware to cut burger in half. Roll of paper towels on every table, with misters on overhead. Cave creek BBQ burger was supposed to have 2 onion rings, but came with crispy onion pieces. It's advertised on Google as such, when we inquired we were told that Google refused to update their menu and prices π€ I won't say the food was bad in anyway, just not as advertised and definitely not...
