I got take out from here last week which was good, so my wife suggested to go the the restaurant and eat there, hence We visited Petra on Memorial Day evening. Ordered Falafal, chicken kabobs and chicken shawarma. First I received Falafal, they were hot and crispy. Second we received chicken shawarma, which looked good. We completed Falafal and then started Shawarma meal, where chips were cold. Shawarma in first bite tasted burned so I unwraped it and the wrap was burnt from outside was was eatable. I had ordered two and first we completed meanwhile we received order of chicken kabobs over bed of rice. The chicken was dry from our side and center chicken from screwed was raw from inside. It felt like was cooled long time back and then regrilled. We started eating second wrap which was unadable. Tasted too burned, I opened the silver foil front the wrap and the tortia / pitta was burnt from outside. I stood up and told the guy over the counter, he said “ the grill is f*ing hot” which made it burnt. He started making new wraps as replacement. I suggested him to scrap the grill to remove burnt residue stick to grill. He defended himself stating the grill is clean, it’s only hot and he does not have enough labour to work today. I went back to my table and try to complet remaining rice with kabob and fries from shawarma. I found a rice with tiny hair on it. At the same time, my wife found a hair on the plate of fries. That was not acceptable, I complained him right away and he didn’t had any answers. He gave us replacement wrap, which had burnt chicken inside with black residue from the grill. He scraped the grill with chicken and put it in the wrap. I do not recommend this place. Check In if the cook is there and...
Read moreThis is not a normal sit down restaurant. Just wanted to state that for anyone looking for one. You order/pay at the counter and they bring it to the table if you eat in. Note that they bring all the food at one time despite it being marked as appetizers, entree, etc.
We decided to eat in since we were not yet checked into our or hotel. Also, not sure if they stopped with the kids meals that show on their website but the person that was taking my order didn't seem to understand when I was asking about kids meals.
We got the appetizer platter, chicken shawarma and beef kabob. All the food was very good and the portions were appropriate based on the price. Unfortunately that also for us means the portions were really large. We could have easily ordered 2 things for my wife and two kids and still had left over.
I would definitely go back here for the food, but would most likely get take...
Read moreWe’ve been getting take-out here for about two years, and the food has been consistent. I have strict diet restrictions and love that they don’t use ingredients I cannot digest, yet the tastes are over the top delicious without them. We’ve only eaten the chicken shawarma and kabobs, spinach pies, and baklava. The employees are great, and I love the interaction among them, including the shouting in their native language, just part of the experience. Ordering isn’t always straightforward, but it all gets worked out and I consider it part of the experience also. Staff are polite and gracious every time, also very appreciative. The dining area is small, and it’s mostly a take-out place, so not much “atmosphere”, but you do get to stare at the grocery options, which we have never bought. They have some cold ethnic grocery items that may be difficult to...
