The wife and I used to really like this place. If we couldn't decide where to go or what we wanted to eat; we'd end up at Pepper's because we knew we'd find something good. But in our last three visits seems the place just slips one step lower in quality and quantity of their food. Atmosphere and service are still there, but something is going on in that kitchen and apparently management. Used to LOVE the spinach/artichoke dip, but that has become oily, cold, and inedible. So we switched to onion rings as our 'go-to' appetizer. Well; now the onion rings have become greasy, and the batter just falls off the onion when you pick it up and dip it....you're basically just dipping a bare half cooked onion at this point. Now as far as entree's go, the sandwiches are still halfway decent, but the burgers are slipping as well. Last Black & Blue burger I had was VERY well done. I understand that to "blacken" the Cajun seasoning to the outside of the burger you have to seer the hell out of it...but doesn't mean you have to burn the burger all the way through---and the 'Blue' part of the Black & Blue is supposed to be blue cheese, good luck tasting it, because there's hardly any there. The wife usually gets a sandwich of some sort whether it be chicken, or french dip, etc...and she's never complained; but agrees with me on the appetizers. I usually like their ribs; but something has happened to them as well. Now instead of half slab or full slab; they serve "a pound"...in my case this equaled a half slab (six bones) plus one bone of PORK ribs. They are charging $17.95 for this. Half slab at, say, Texas Roadhouse is around $14, and full slab around $20 of BEEF ribs. You decide what it's worth. And the flavor of the ribs were off...didn't get sick, so the meat wasn't spoiled, but they were definitely not tasting right. The fries were good and hot, but they pretty much just scattered a small handfull on a separate plate to give the illusion that you had a good portion. The salad was lettuce, with 2 rings of red onion, 2 slices of cucumber, and 1 cherry tomato...but atleast they gave me a teaspoon full of dressing to choke it down. The two stars are for the wait-staff and selection of beers, no complaints there. We won't be back for a good LONG time. I'll give them some time to see if they can get their act together, and go back to the old Pepper's that we used to know and love. I suggest you start with some kind of management in that kitchen, and quality of food you get from your supplier. Anyone can "over see" the front...

The worst experience I have ever had at a Peppers restaurant with takeout. Not only did I call to let them know that the food was completely disgusting and I still have it and this is coming from two people who had ordered the exact same thing, and both had the exact same complaints didn’t even tell each other my daughter and I ordered them. We both went home our separate ways and both were so sick the whole night last night. We called today to let them know and all she could say was. oh I’m sorry everybody seems to really like those southwestern eggrolls and I told her that we were sick and everything and not no oh can we try to make it up for you guys anything no just thank you for letting us know. Worst response to the fact that I’m going to put a review up instead of saying you know, we would like to make this better with you can we try to do something to make it work? I don’t know maybe offer us a free meal something different on the menu, but no Completely acted like they were about as uninterested in what was the problem and how to solve it and that’s because everybody will keep going there until somebody gets very very sick from these eggrolls which I can only explain to you. It’s like eating sand whatever the red stuff that’s inside of them is like a big chunks of seasoning. It’s so disgusting I don’t understand. they Don’t have a clue what a southwestern eggroll is supposed to look like our taste like eat them at your own risk. Don’t expect them to make anything right even if you were a loyal customer of 20+ years never will return again now. Trying to figure out how...

I went there last night with my husband for dinner. The waitress was training a new guy. That's fine I understand that. We got our food. No one came back to see how the food was. Normally nice restaurants come back after you have had a couple bites to see if it tastes ok or not. No one did this. My husband's food was fine. I ordered the chef salad. After getting into a couple bites the lettuce was clearly old. It was badly wilted and had brown spots on it. Well I wasn't gonna eat this. When they finally came back with the bill they asked if I wanted a to go container. I said no the food was disgusting. The waitress went for the manager. She came over after waiting some time and I explained the situation. She asked if I wanted something else. I declined. My husband already ate. Had the waitress been back I might have asked for something else. But I never got that opportunity. The manager offered a refund. We have eaten here before from time to time on prime rib night and it was good. But clearly I was being passed some old lettuce. Very disappointed. It will be a long time before we come back if ever. I gave only one star because of the refund. I stopped for fast food on...

We are from out of town, but whenever we're in Cedar Falls we try to stop at Peppers on 18th Street. On this past Thursday, we were there just before the noon hour and believe me we got there just in time to beat the noon rush. This is a very popular place with locals, so trust me you will want to plan your dining around the lunch hour and dinner hour if crowds tend to bother you. Also, the place can get rather noisy due to the crowd size, and number of TVs playing. So again if this would bother you and if you're looking for an intimate conversation, plan accordingly. As far as the food goes, we have ate there many many times over the years, and I've never had a bad meal. On this most recent visit my wife had the bacon cheddar burger and she said it was awesome. I had the pork tenderloin (pictured) and we both and fries. Here's a tip... make sure you try an order of their onion rings. Pepper's makes the best dang onion rings in Cedar Falls.

Quickly seated. Table felt sticky so had it wiped down. It was actually the finish had worn off making it feel that way. Beer was good-had the Mango Cart. Had the Hall of Fame burger. Nothing special, kinda bland. Server was really nice...but....overly apologetic for the extremely slow time the food took to come out. I did notice she spent a lot of time at a table with people she obviously knew and another server finally brought out our dinners. Fries and burger were warm so had been sitting a while. If you suggest something that is not on the menu(upsale) you should at least tell people especially if you charge extra for a condiment. Overall, it's ok. I would not make a special trip to go back but if someone requested to meet me there I would.

We had a breaded tenderloin and fries. Fries were hot and good. Forgot an ingredient but server got it quickly. This sandwich was was good but thin and floppy. Burger with homemade chips. Burger juicy and good. Chips greasy. Cheese curds for app were too salty. Server was excellent. Although this is 2024, there should be printed lists of available drinks. This is a simple thing to have in the restaurant and some patrons could get flustered trying to use QR codes. Also, there were eight servers standing around doing nothing at the entrance the restaurant. An old saying in the restaurant business: if you have time to lean, you have time to clean.
