We had a horrible experience at Akita Hibachi on Saturday August 5th. This happened around 7:30 pm. My husband and I go out to Hibachi restaurants frequently because it's my favorite. We usually go to Hibachi restaurants in Mansfield, Arlington or Irving. Mostly we go to Mansfield. We visited Akita about a year ago and the food was not seasoned as well and the portions were smaller than the other restaurants. So, Saturday August 5th we decided to give Akita another try. My husband called to ask how long the wait would be. The man who answered the phone said there was no wait time at that moment. So, we live in Cedar Hill and we were already in the car driving in the area. We arrived at Akita within 5-10 minutes and there were lots of people waiting outside and lots of people waiting inside the entrance area. The man then told us that the wait time was all of a sudden 40 minutes. So, ok no problem. We had him place us on the wait list and we went to the bar to wait and have some sushi and Yaki Soba. The bartender's name was Bob I think. So, there is a sign there that says "All sales final" I have never seen a sign like that in a restaurant so that was kind of a red flag to me. Anyway, the sushi was ok but the Yaki Soba smelled scorched and burned. We only took a couple of bites of the Yaki Soba and it just wasn't good so we couldn't continue eating it mostly due to the smell. We asked the bartender for the check. He brought over the check, we paid the entire check and at that time we told him that the Yaki Soba smelled scorched. He then just shook his head 'No'. (I had no problem paying for it...the Yaki Soba was only $15 and I didn't want to argue since they have a sign up that basically says if you're not happy with your food then that's just too bad) Anyway, after paying for our food we told him again that the Yaki Soba smelled scorched so that he would know and could attend to the problem. He told us "No it doesn't." We asked if he had smelled it. He then rudely said, "Yes I smelled it and it doesn't smell bad, that's just your opinion." After all that my husband said let's go and told Bob the bartender that we won't ever be back there. Bob just shrugged his shoulders like saying 'So what, I don't care' We left and took our names off the Hibachi table wait list. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. It was a terrible experience for us. It's not like we were trying to get out of paying, we just wanted him to know that there was a problem with our food. He didn't care at all and he seemed happy to let us know that he didn't care. We asked the guy at the front door about speaking to management...turns out the bartender (Bob) was also the manager. We'll never go back there after bring treated...
Read moreAs much as I hate to say it. Based on yesterday’s experience I was not impressed. It doesn’t matter who you are, you’re still supposed to be treated and served correctly. The hosts in the front spoke well and made sure we were seated close since it was two of us. When we sat down we had a older lady (did not catch her name but I still have the receipt) she tried her best to talk loud for us since it was packed but we couldn’t hear her clear enough. Instead of patiently coming around the grill and coming close, she had an attitude towards us. We assumed she asked about drinks and I ordered water for both. Same thing happened with us ordering our food. And her response was “oh okay” and she didn’t even finish my friend’s order…she literally walked off when figuring out what sushi she wanted since it was her first time there. Unfortunately, we had the opposite skin color guests who were treated nicely… got refills, asked were everything cool, and even said thank you. Apparently she was done with us. Not only was she done with us I asked for a side order of yum yum sauce and her response was “oh okay, don’t rush give me a minute” I told her I wasn’t rushing and take her time and you can guess what her response was. She literally turned to the guy next to us and was polite as ever. When it was time for payments her whole attitude and tone went from “oh okay” to the most energetic side we did not experience. I asked to order to go she advised me to go to the front (which I did and yes she was indeed correct on how fast). I came back and tipped her NOTHING. I always tip and tip BIG including my friend. But when you’re being treated like you shouldn’t be there why should we. Unfortunately my whole mood was so ruined I didn’t even wanna tip the chef and hosts. As much as I love akita I probably won’t be a guest anymore. Will definitely notify nextdoor, facebook and any other restaurant...
Read moreSo, my family and I went here to celebrate my grandfather 85th birthday and before we went we spoke to the manager months ahead of time to ask if they could accommodate 20 to 30 people and we was told yes. So we get there and they make us wait because 4 people in our group wasn't there yet but was told if majority of the group is there we can be seated and still yet we were not seated so remind you at this time it is 18 of us standing around and waiting outside in the heat including my 85 year old grandfather. Then another person walks in to be seated with her party, and when we said something about that, then they let us be seated. So then they sat part of my family at another table with another group of people stating they couldn't accommodate us and then when I asked why would the manager tell us months ago he could and then when I was about to walk out they decided they can accommodate us. Then they tell us everybody has to order from the hibachi grill, including the little children. Why couldn't they just get something simple off the children's menu. Also, the server was so rude, huffing and puffing, and then impatient because some of the older people in our group couldn't get the menu downloaded to their phones. When we asked for regular menus, she got an attitude. The food wasn't worth the money we spent or the bs we went through. The manager was rude and came over yelling because we asked to speak with him and asked a simple question, so hostile for no reason. But when it was time to pay and an automatic gratuity fee was added to everyone's bill, that's when the server became friendly because she knew she was paid. It was already bad enough that she wouldn't let nobody order food separately, talking that's too hard on her. But that's her job. So honestly, my family and I have decided not to ever go back and give them our business or hard earned money that they do...
