OK, so let’s start! Approximately three minutes after we were seated, our waitress asked what we’d like to order. We both looked at each other and then at her, she said, oh you need time to read the menu and I was like, “YOU THINK”? So three minutes later she returned asking the same question, We said no, is it possible that we could have time to study the menu. On her third trip to our table, we had questions but she said she’d be back and didn’t return for quite some time. Finally, she returns with this hurry-up attitude and we ordered! She brings our food and 15 minutes later, comes back to ask if we are done eating, and if we would like a to-go box, we both looked at each other again and said no we’re still eating our food if that’s okay! We wanted to ask if she needed our table?
The food was not good to begin with. Four minutes later, yes we timed her, she came back to ask if we were done eating and if we were ready to pay. At that point I was done, so I said yes bring us a to-go box so she brought two to-go small cardboard containers that would leak! We both had food that would spill out, so I asked if it would be possible to get containers appropriate for the food that we ordered? She stated yeah, I knew you weren’t going to want these but management instructrd us to give you these first and only if you insist on a real to-go box was she to provide one! I was done, I didn’t want to eat the mediocre food and after the service that we received, there’s no way we will ever go back to On The Border in Cedar Hill.
It’s on the border all right, on the border of the worst dining experience I’ve had in my 70 years of life! Did I mention when we arrived, there was no one in front to greet us and 17 minutes went by! When she finally showed up, she asked if we would like to be seated, I said yes, that would be nice unless you guys have a new thing where you stand and eat your food. So my tip for our waitress is waitressing is not your calling! I don’t know if it was time for her to leave the restaurant or if she was in a race to collect receipts with another waitress. Either way, this place gets a “don’t waste your money here” from both of us! Customers have choices and we have a LOT of them! Now I understand why they have such a low rating on yelp! It’s truly well deserved! We got better customer service from the employee who was cleaning the glass on the front door as we came in. Thank you for making us feel welcomed, if only for a few minutes! No photos necessary, just pay attention...
Read moreHave absolutely ZERO expectations of good or even slightly decent service when dining here. I am certain Taco Bell across the highway would be more accommodating.
Let’s start with the absolute slowest and unwelcoming greet I received after sitting at the bar over 5 minutes. When Amber finally took my order she asked if I was ready to order; after so much time waiting I was. She then told Robert (the other bartender) my order so he could place it. I only ordered a SALAD. Guest leave others come and their food is out immediately; it’s been an hour and my salad hasn’t arrived.
I then ask Robert for my check which is only my drink. I go on to say my food never came out and I had been waiting an hour. I paid EXACT change for my drink because clearly they were UNDESERVING of any tip.
Robert nor Amber mumble an apology for their negligence, as I finish my drink Robert has the shift manager Colton come over and clear my order off his tab. The manager clears the entire tab and lets Robert keep the EXACT change from my drink as his tip. The manager never apologized or attempted to right a wrong.
Mind you I use to wait tables at On the Border in DeSoto for a couple of years, so I KNOW the franchise is big on customer service and accommodations.
I then ask to speak to Colton in private, I tell him to his face his management skills were UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL and HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE. He then goes on to say a server was in the weeds and he was busy helping. At this moment he still EPICALLY FAILED at making a wrong-right.
On top of the lousy, incompetent, and worthless service I endeared, as I sat there an HOUR waiting on a SALAD I saw a server place food on a table who said it wasn’t theirs, pick the food up and place it on another table. That is a food code violation, anytime food touches a table it is no longer good and has to be remade. If the front of the house is breaking violations I can only imagine what the kitchen is doing.
With a moronic, nonexistent customer service and unqualified manager like Colton leading the pack you can’t expect his crew to be any more professional and productive than he is. A business is only as good as the leader is and this establishment is ranking...
Read moreMaybe a good place to go with your kids. It's not the place for date night. Everything is out in the open. The waiter was really friendly. However, he was serving too many tables. From the time we sat down, there were still small crumbs on the table and seats. The floor wasn't clean. He provided salsa, but we had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes for chips. So, we were just sitting at the table with salsa. Once we finally got the chips, they were very good. The mixed drinks are ok. Seems like they were watered down from sitting at the bar. The food was ok. Nothing special. I had a Grande Taco Salad. It had way too much salad. I had to dig in to find the meat. I should have ordered extra tomatoes and sour cream because everything was dry. Then, the fajita meat was overcooked. It was chicken and steak. It was not tender AT ALL. I was chewing it like bubble gum. Needless to say, I stopped fighting with this entree after about 3 bites and wasn't interested in a carryout. I don't think that we will be going back. The staff is very friendly though. This place reminds me of Papacito's. I didn't bother to take any pictures because there's really nothing to highlight about this place. It is nothing like the On the Border in Arlington. Sorry, but they need to step...
