Fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, subpar service and poor management.
I've been to this location 3 times now. The first time I was treated very poorly by my waiter who disrespected me, ignored me when I flagged him down and prevented me from ordering beer 30 minutes before bar close. The second time I was treated fabulously by a bartender who went out of his way to make our experience exceptional and told many stories to enliven the food and the location to us. I have come here for a third time and was told I could order unlimited samples of beer 3 at a time. Then after I picked my first 3 they told me the max was 5 so I only had 2 other options before I had to pay for them. I said I was very willing to pay but after my next 2 samples they cut me off of samples entirely. My water was delivered with a very bitter chemical tasting film on the glass that made me gag. The waitress forgot our sauce with our sweet potato fries appetizer. At the end of our experience the manager was very condescending and abrasive and made my girlfriend and I feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome here. The food has been absolutely top notch every time I've come here. It always looks beautiful and tastes amazing. I highly reccomend the truffle fries with spicy aioli, the unami burger and any of the tacos. If the service at this location was better I would be a regular as I live close by. But I do not like being jerked around and ignored by staff or having my beverages delivered in dirty chemical coated glasses and having items I ordered forgotten. Being treated with such brash arrogance by the manager on duty made me decide to not return to the Cedar Rapids 30Hop in the near future. She was so cold and rude to us and I refuse to tolerate that level of abrasive behavior from an establishment I am paying to visit. This beautiful location is tarnished by the lackluster presentation of some undoubtedly magnificent product. So much...
Read moreThis was one of my favorite places to hit up in town until recently.
On our previous stop before today, I was served a lukewarm half empty cup of tea with Bailey’s in it after asking for a hot coffee with Bailey’s. The bartender told me after I notified her that I was served tea instead of coffee that she had just grabbed whatever cup she saw sitting in the back, added my Bailey’s, and served it to me. I was probably given some other patron’s half drank tea. I was still charged for the drink. How is this acceptable service?
On our visit today, the servers were more nice and professional than the manager. We came in to join another party that was already there and sat close to them since the table they were at was full. We had told the hostess we were meeting them before we sat down. Since there weren’t many other people there, the other party wanted to move to the long row of 3 tables and the manager wasn’t happy about that. He wanted to push 3 2-person tables together and have the 8 (soon to be 10) of us squeeze in there for food and drinks. That clearly wasn’t going to work. The manager then made some rude comment about how he wished we had discussed coming in and seating before just seating ourselves. The server came over and told us it was totally fine to take the 3 long tables since there were enough of us and it was still in her section. I’ve never had a manager work so hard to not...
Read moreI used to love the food here, but I swear the menu philosophy is to to take all of the best things off the menu every few months, hope no one notices that the portions and quality of ingredients get worse, not to forget to mention the prices go up at the same time. Buffalo cauliflower just cost me 18 dollars after tip. There's no more short rib. Okay I get that, beef is expensive, but one of their top sellers was the Korean bbq and that's been replaced by a truffle cheese steak, which is basically a grilled cheese with a couple ounces of beef for 23 dollars after tip. There's no more short rib tacos either which were flat out amazing. I'm not coming back again unfortunately, try local pour instead for better items and prices. I just spent 41 dollars here on a grilled cheese and cauliflower, and I should of got a filet mignon or whole lobster somewhere else for that price. This place used to be bangin and busy but I think at this point the prices are not just reflecting our economies inflation but more so the lack of business they have now in order to keep the lights on. The original menu was great and there's been almost not one item that's been added in the last 4 years that beats any of those items. Do yourselves a favor and look at that menu, look at the prices and notice how far you've...
