Waffle House — Restaurant in Center Point

We moved to Center Point 3 years ago when my son was just born. We started going to restaurant #1961 in Center Point Alabama. The entire staff was so friendly; from Management to the greeter. I honestly cant remember everyone's name but they all adopted us as family. Their service and quality of cooking is top notch . I go to waffle houses all over as I travel for work; but none compare to the one in my home town. The staff watched my son grow from an infant to an endless talking 3-year old. They always went out of their way and did little things to make our visits extra special. We are sad to say we are moving out of state and will greatly miss everyone who welcomed our family. This world is so divisive and racist. But, that didn't prevent the staff from making us part of the family. It warms my heart that just because people are different we are all humans and therefore priceless. We can look beyond all the hate in the world and show love to complete strangers. Today we went back to say our final goodbyes before we move out of State. It was bitter sweet as we exchanged big hugs. We'd like to thank Tori, Patricia and others whose names are escaping me. We will never forget you and will definitely miss you.

When a friend and I walked in noone greeted us. There were other customers at 3 different booths, but they were already eating their food. So we sat down at a booth to the far left side of the restaurant. The cook and waitresses we're talking to each other and cutting up, which I don't personally have a problem with, but after waiting for more than 30 minutes we STILL hadn't had anyone come to our table to even ask us what we wanted to drink. There was an older white gentleman cleaning the table behind us and I'm sure he heard it's taking about ourselves about the poor service. He told us that somebody would be with us in just a moment. After another 10-15 minutes went by and our drink order had not been taken we decided to leave. As we were walking out a waitress (who had been standing and taking to the cook the whole time we were there) spoke up and said "I was about to come and take your order." I told her not to bother that apparently they were too busy for anymore customers. We left and went the Waffle House on Chalkville Mtn. Road and EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!! We will only eat at that location in the future. The Center Point location needs to train their staff desperately!! Until then, I wouldn't recommend this...

We get there, go in, and sit down and are ready to order when this young man comes over and says, "you have to order to go." He spoke so fast we both didn't understand him and asked him to repeat what he said. "You have to get a to-go order now!" He was really smart with us and he was young. We go outside and we are both upset, we took an Uber here and they let us come in, sit down, and look at a menu. We get to the window to order and he hands us one menu, clearly there is two of us. We ask for another and my friend is upset and cursing, but not at the young man or me. The man tells my friend, "don't do that." He says it a few times until my friend apologized for getting irate. He actually wasn't hurting anybody, maybe offending the young man in his rant. Instead of telling my friend what he needed to not do, he should have told him that he had offended him. So we left and went...
