My husband chose Off Square to celebrate Father's Day. We were sat close to the bar but near the door. Our server Hannah asked if were newbies and we said no. Beers, yummy. My husband ordered a Reuben and I got a Smash Burger. A different server brought out the food and right after a third server (or maybe manager) came by the table and asked if all was well. We said yes even though we just started to eat. Two bites in and my husband was shaking his head. He couldn't chew the meat. Eventually Hannah came back and asked if everything was ok. I said yes, but he said no and held up the unconsumable chunks of meat. She then said "Oh, do you want a box?" Huh? He said no and she walked away with no offer of a substitution or apology. Although stunned by her response, he was hungry and continued to try and eat the rest of the sandwich. She then reappears later to grab payment and said that some folks complained of the meat and they don't know why. She brings my card back for me to sign the receipt. Leaves but quickly comes back before I sign the receipt....not to clear, but obviously to check to see if I signed it. I told my husband she was absent while we were eating but watch her continue to circle the table. I sign the receipt, (and yes, I left a 20%+tip), and she appears again, reaches over us to snatch it off the table. Not to clear any dirties, just to snatch the receipt, run and throw it behind the bar. THAT, pissed me off. I assume she expected us not to pay because he had a problem with THEIR food. I ended up taking my husband somewhere else for drinks after that experience. *I also see another review pic of the very sandwich my husband complained about hours ago. PLEASE DO BETTER!!! Not sure if we will...
Read moreThis place is really nice for Craft Beer and really a nice looking place, the concept is great but definitely lacks execution of food and to be fair I'm only speaking of what we had. The Brisket burnt ends were more of a Corned Beef in flavor and texture, the Hummus was fantastic and I would ask for extra pitas because they only give a half pita. The Lamb Burger was not very impressive in taste or appearance, the Pressed sandwich with duck had good flavor but all you get is a really Pressed bread with a few thin slices of Duck Breast and would be great if there was more than bread. Definitely wouldn't recommend the Brisket platter, again not much offered the side chosen was corn bread and that's what you got a few slices of Brisket a Square of Cornbread that was completely different from the Cornbread ordered with the Duck Sandwich and a small bbq sauce. The Pork Belly Cuban Sliders were inedible because the Pork was rubbery and chewy but fantastic garlic parmesan fries. The only other items ordered were the Chocolate Stout Cake and the Peach Cobbler very well made and delicious. The music is very loud so it makes everyone have to talk over it so be prepared, service was very personable but not very good at clearing tables or really listening to what you are trying to convey and playing in the corner with other employees left you feeling whose in charge, especially for the amount of money we paid. If they really work on better food and services they would be quite an amazing Restaurant...
Read moreWe waited 55 minutes for our small "wood fire pizza" and appetizer chicken wings. After waiting 45 minutes we caught the waitress as she walked by to ask her for an update. She said they were short staffed. Ok. I'm not in the restaurant biz, but instead of just complaining I'll offer some ideas. Maybe these ideas are unrealistic and won't work, but if some of these ideas were in place we would have not been so mad. Maybe we would have not vowed look for other places to get lunch next time. The establishment could have a policy in place to update guests proactively. They could reduce the number of people they allow to sit. They could offer a reduced selection menu. They could bring out bowls of cheap pretzels. They could offer another drink on the house. They could warn people when they come in. They could offer a coupon when customers leave. The manager could make rounds. Instead it seems like they just did their best and hoped for the best. Hope may work in some places, but probably in not a reliable action plan or procedure when staffing is less than optimal. It's a fine place to get a drink and the food is ok, but I would not recommend going here if you are already hungry as it does not seem like they have effective procedures in place to reduce the likelihood of frustrated and hungry customers. What other procedures are not in place...
