Being super slow is understandable for a new restaurant. I have worked for fast food places on their opening day and it can be a disaster trying to please customers when most of the staff is brand new. However, this poor review is in reference to another issue in which there is genuinely no excuse regardless of age, experience, or maturity level. After sitting in line for nearly an hour, a car not too far behind me pulled up to the drive through intercom at about 5 minutes past closing. Keep in mind they had been in line since about 40+ mins before closing, and the manager had earlier turned several cars away before they reached the intercom not including this specific customer so they had no reason to expect this. As they approached the intercom to order, the employee said they were closed. The customer, appalled, begged nicely to order even if it was just a shake. After being told “nope” several times the customer asked for the manager, who was even less pleasant and would not talk to the customer. After being cut off and told to have a good night, the first victim left and the several cars behind him were furious. After they had pleaded their own cases asking to order given there were only 2-3 more cars in line, and it was only around 10:10pm, the manager told them to go blank themselves and go eat somewhere else while aggressively approaching the customer. A friend of ours who witnessed the same incident was told by the cashier that the manager was the one insisting on leaving, not the young employees. On the bright side, they are so unorganized they accidentally gave us 3x the amount of food we ordered which we noticed after leaving. Guess they got what they deserved and had to remake several orders for whoever’s food we...
Read moreWe go here every so often when on Broadway. Most certainly isn't our first choice. Small orders only maybe a slushy and mot sticks. When they first opened they were really slow as expected of a new restaurant. Flash forward to now, they are still super slow maybe due to high turnover which isn't the employee's faults at all. The drive in stalls are almost always closed.
The final straw for this Sonic was I waited in line the other day waiting on a mobile order for 8 minutes while the one car in front of me tried to order. All of the stalls were closed except two but both had people in it. As soon as one of the stalls opened up I tried to go park in it as directed on the app but the employee closed the only open lane immediately with a cone.
I don't see the point/appeal of even coming here anymore. The food is good but the main appeal is a drive-in atmosphere. If I wanted to get food fast through a window I'd go to one of the many other restaurants in town.
This Sonic was just built not too long ago but has the appearance of being in that location for the last 15 years. It's a shame since this is the only Sonic until Michigan City. I hope this location improves and gets the...
Read moreDo not recommend at all. After reading all the HORRIBLE reviews, I can tell that there is no future for the crown point, IN Location. The restaurant had no problem charging for food but failed to bring all the items listed on the receipt. When brought to the attention of the window girl, instead of apologizing and getting the chili dog that was PAID for but not given, she said “well it’s not on my screen”. What kind of answer is that? It’s on the receipt that THEY gave. This lasted five minutes. Then the girl grabbed the manager, a woman, who continued to CHASTISE and belittle my 70 year old parents. When the window girl THREW the bag with the missing chili dog in it into the car, the chili dog was laying upside down, on top of its own toppings. It was also still in the PLASTIC, MICROWAVABLE PACKAGING, just like you get at a gas station…Working in hospitality/F&B for the last 15 years and understanding the staffing shortages/lack of finding quality workers, I try not to leave bad reviews. However this restaurant is an exception. Reading the other reviews I see the manager is a problem and at the end of the day all problems start from the top. She...
