After reading a few good reviews online we decided to give this place a shot.
We had 5 in our party and had to take two booths, as there was no other way to seat a party this "large".
Between us we ordered the Fried Chicken, Ribeye Steak, Pizza, and a child's grilled cheese. I can honestly say, my daughter's grilled cheese was the best thing they served us... which is super disappointing considering that we got 2 of the things the placed is named for (pizza & steak).
To be fair tho, the steak was cooked perfectly, now had it just had flavor we would have had a winner. Sadly, nope. I had to salt it and add a big ol pat of butter just to make it not taste like freezer burnt beef.
The pizza can only be described as a step above frozen, I mean, it wasn't horrible but I also would not have highlighted my restaurant for it... and I certainly would NOT use the word "famous" when describing it.
Lastly the fried chicken.... wow, if it has been what was on my plate, it would have gone back! It was soooo over fried that not only was the breading burnt and armor like, but the actual meat was dry and stringy. Think knife and fork not even being enough to get into this stuff.
All in all, the whole experience was just meh... if it was the only place in town still open for dinner, I'd gladly drive another 50 miles for...
Read moreMy wife and I were just out touring on our motorcycle in the area and she had seen this restraunt online earlier and were had planned to stop by. If your in the area looking for good food this is your stop! The building is an old furniture store converted into an eatery. There pizza was great, a thin flakey crust, a great homemade sauce and plenty of toppings. The menu is great, appetizers , pizza, pasta, steaks, burgers and sandwiches; should be able to find something on the menu for everyone. The service was quick and wait staff friendly. Pricing is in line with other restaurants of similar size with like style menus. The building is a great blend of the old city square architecture in the dining area and a more contemporary look in the redone kitchen and service area. One drawback but not severe enough to cause me to drop a star rating: they do tack on a small service charge if you use a credit card to pay, this may be posted near cash register or on menu and I failed to see it before ordering but overall good dining experience more than offset this minor detail. Stop by if you are...
Read moreLet me start with the service. It was fantastic. My server, Cam, was wonderful, great personality, and very attentive. I really enjoyed speaking with her. I ordered pizza, the place is known for its pizza, Unfortunately, I cannot give it more than three stars. I ordered the George and nicks pizza…peppers onions, cheese sauce, very little sauce on the pizza, the vegetables were raw. If you’re gonna put out a pizza with peppers and onions, you should at least caramelize them a little bit before putting them on the pizza to cook. It will be a much more robust flavor. I asked for extra sauce, it too, was very bland. I added salt and pepper to the pizza. This did help. The crust looked great, but also lacked flavor and texture. I am probably not a good person to review this restaurant because I am from the East Coast I’ve had a lot of great Brooklyn Pizza, New York style. I can’t vouch for anything else on the menu, so maybe go ahead and give it a try and get great service with Cam and leave your own review for...
