$5.99 Today's Special BBQ Chicken plate
Hi BBQ is a Korean-staffed Hawaiian BBQ eatery, located at the Los Cerritos Center food court, residing in the former location of Lamajoon. Walking by, my eyes spied the large banner advertising "Today's Special Hawaiian BBQ Chicken/$5.99". I thought "Si, como no?"
$5.99 gets teriyaki chicken, accompanied with rice & macaroni salad. The meat was a fair portion, with a sweet teriyaki glaze, laid on top a bed of cabbage. The macaroni salad was okay, at best. I'm not too big on mac salad to begin with. I'm a potato salad kind of guy. The steamed rice was deliciously moist & tender. Considering it's a food court & at a price point of $5.99, it's a respectable dining option.
Hi BBQ also serves short rib, Califorina rolls & udon soup, among others. I inquired about the udon soup, which has two options - one w/o meat & one with shrimp. The lady working the counter told me the shrimp udon comes with two shrimp. Not very enticing to me, I must say.
Service was okay. The lady quickly took my order & began cooking up my dish with a minimal wait. She was surprised when I name dropped Korean dishes that I like to her.
Parking is at the Los Cerritos Center. Hi BBQ is located on the right of Hot Dog On A Stick.
Hi BBQ is a decent option at the Los Cerritos Center food court, when compared with the rest of the competition. Sbarro, Panda Express, McDonald's & Subway don't appeal to me. Hi BBQ & Sarku Japan share similar items, and with the BBQ chicken, I believe Sarku has the better product. But, give Hi BBQ a shot and you might not come away disappointed, especially when there's a...
Read moreCame here a bunch of times and never disappointed. The food is delicious and they give a great amount of it, especially for the price. The only little problem is that it has happened that few times they didn't understand my instructions (just no veggies lol) even though i asked repeatedly. I think is just because English is not the owner's first language, so as long as you make sure they understood you are good to go! I...
