I've been here twice already, the first time was an amazing experience. The waiters were very attentive, the food was really good, and staff is just overall nice. I loved this place so much I brought friends along for a second time here, a total of 5 of us. At a bill of $132 it seems pretty decent considering everything I've listed above, except this time when we were about to take a bite of a sushi plate we took off the belt, it had a strand of hair woven into the rice and roll itself. This was after one of the other 5 of us had just finished eating the same roll they got from the belt as well. We were all in disgust wondering if the other same roll had hair in it as well or if any of the other rolls did. We hit the help button and asked for a waiter but didn't get one until one of my friends called one over as she was walking past us (like I said, usually they're very attentive so I have no idea why they were just walking past us even after we had pushed the help button) and told them there was hair in the roll. We gave her the hair roll and showed her, she said sorry, took it back, came out about a minute later and said "sorry about that, they won't charge you for it". If you haven't been here before, they charge you for each plate you get from the conveyor belt and when you're done you put the empty plate into a slot and it gets charged $2.60 for each plate you insert. So thanks for not charging me for something I didn't eat, that I couldn't eat because it had hair in it, and lost my appetite over, and made me want to check everything for a loose strand.
I don't blame the waiters, they're usually all very nice and they were very attentive. But it's just a huge issue finding hair in your food especially when you're paying about $26/person and all you get is an apology. Not even a free dessert. Just a quick apology and going back like it's not a health code issue and I have to wonder if I ate hair. My only regret is not taking a picture of it as proof for this review, just make sure to check your food and don't eat too fast to miss it. I was seconds away from pulling a random persons hair strand out of my mouth if my friends didn't call it out.
Really unfortunate as this place was going to be my...

It's a pretty popular place, especially for dinner and weekends, and it's one of my favorite sushi places.
It feels pretty authentic to traditional Japanese revolving sushi places because traditionally, there's a lack of tables meant for grabbing a quick bite. Thankfully, there is a good amount of booths that can sit around 4~6 people, but don't be afraid of sitting bar side since busy reservation times can be more than 90 mins wait (Oh and you can reserve ahead of time if you get their app, you're welcome).
Service is very minimal. The hosts mainly show you to your seat and bring drinks. If you order directly from the tablet, it actually comes straight to you on a separate conveyer belt. You can also pay with your phone, well if you have Apple Pay.
The food is absolutely delicious, but there's more than just what's on the conveyer belt. When the food comes around, there's a little trick to opening the cover that protects the food that goes around. DON'T try to open or take the food if you don't 1,000% want it, but don't worry if you do accidentally open the cover, it'll just get tossed if you make that mistake. Oh and don't worry about old food, if no one takes the food after a while, the system will automatically discard it. Also, you get prizes if you or your party eats a lot of dishes. Also Also, check out the limited and special items; they stay on the menu long and can run out early at night.
Honestly, I love places like this because the small portion sizes can make lunch or dinner pretty affordable. The only thing I don't like is the wait time; it's a small restaurant, so seats fill up quickly, and customers definitely take...
Read moreHi there! I’ve been to this Kura twice now and I have some things to say.
First, Taste - the food we chose had low quality taste. We order from the tablet most of the time but we were really disappointed with the crab hand roll. The seaweed wrap was old and had absolutely no crunch to it. The crab was overly mixed with a mayo type sauce and was saltier than it should’ve been. The flavor of the other dishes were kind of subpar. Maybe the cooks should “taste” the food often so they can improve on the food’s taste. I was extremely disappointed by the mochi desert though.
Customer service - when we first came in, we had to ask if we could sit down or sign in, however the servers did give us anything we asked as soon as we asked for it and often came to us asking how everything was.
Price - the price was very decent, we had 2 drinks and 15 plates and ended up paying about $68 for it all. Compared to little Tokyo the price is better but you have to wonder why..
To summarize it all, I hope the cooks and prep cooks start tasting their ingredients more. Also, if I wanted to have bad pieces of avocado in my food, I’d stay at home and cut it myself… the plating of the food looked rush and sloppy, I say take pride in the food you’re serving at least. It’s not hard, y’all had 10 customers in the restaurant! I digress, I would come back again if they try to improve upon those things and don’t oversalt stuff or change the original mochi...
