In order to practice law, you have to pass the bar. In order to get some good poke, don't pass up this bar.
Poke Bar, occupying the former location of Guppy Green House, held their soft opening for 4 days. Lucky guests received 50% off poke bowls. Seeing how it's 50% off, I want as much as I can possibly get, therefore I went with the large.
Base options - white rice, brown rice, nachos, kale, spring mix, shiitake mushroom rice
Protein options - tuna, salmon, spicy tuna, albacore, octopus, scallops, shrimp, tofu
Mix-in options - crabmeat, seaweed, cucumber, onions, crispy onion, corn, cilantro, jalapeno, crispy garlic, pineapple, roe.
Sauces - house dressing, ponzu, sweet chili, wasabi mayo, spicy mayo, wasabi shoyu
Large poke bowl (4 protein)- I decided upon spicy tuna, albacore, octopus & scallops on a bed of spring mix. The poke was spicy, sweet & absolutely delicious! Fresh is best, and the fish/seafood at Poke Bar is no exception. The octopus had the right chewiness, which good octopus/squid should have. All the mix-in's created a melody of seafood foodie bliss. A substantial amount, even for my bottomless pit I call a stomach.
Service was excellent! Of course, being the soft opening, everyone was uber attentive, but I'm sure the friendliness & hospitality were no façade. The poke assembly was prompt & I was checked in on during my meal. Seating is via 3 communal long tables, with some al fresco tables for those looking to dine outside.
Parking is in a private lot at the Cerritos Landmark Square. Parking is hard to come by in the front of Poke Bar during peak hours, so I suggest parking in the rear for a better chance of securing a spot.
I have no need to venture out of Cerritos Landmark Square to fulfill my weekly dining options. Poke Bar is another great local eatery in that particular vicinity which I will for sure be a regular at. The food is great, the service exceptional & the prices are reasonable to boot! When it's hot, I prefer eating cooling foods, and the poke at Poke Bar is the perfect meal come the hot summer months. I can't wait to go back & customize an entirely new bowl for my tastebuds to try.

Read moreThis is hands down my favorite Poke restaurant in LA. All of the staff are so kind and polite, the ingredients are extremely fresh, and the PORTION SIZES are INSANE! Most Poke places are skimpy on the protein scoops or toppings and sauces, but this place?! These guys hook it up fatter than any other restaurant I have been to, hands down! They even ask you if you want more, or less, or offer to customize your bowl down to every detail you wish! The same sweet ladies are always working there and treat me so well, the way they make my bowls every time are always spot on. I couldn't be happier with the food and service here. You get way more than what you pay for going here, one bowl can last you 2 days because of the amount of food in it. I am a bodybuilder so I have a huge appetite and always get the large sized bowl with as many toppings as I can and they're always happy to oblige to my requests. Don't think twice about going here, you will be blown away by how delicious and amazing this PokeBar...
Read moreI am not the type to frequently post reviews, but the interactions with the workers at this location made it an unpleasant experience. The quality of the food is very average, the fish wasn't particularly fresh, the rice wasn't warm enough, and the sides were nothing to brag about.
However, the service was terrible. After paying, we noticed on the receipt that we were charged for one small and one medium bowl when we actually ordered two small bowls. When we went back to rectify the situation, the staff in front were annoyed. One of the front workers, a woman, was especially annoyed, staring down my partner with judgmental dagger eyes. When neither her nor the man could figure out how to issue a partial refund, the man got irritated and slapped the counter before going back to call the manager to the front. The manager finally fixed the issue, with the two front workers clearly annoyed at us for...
