Ni hao! Ni chi fan le ma?
I, Budai the Happy Buddha, welcome you to Sam Woo Seafood & BBQ, with lots of food for you to eat!
Complimentary tea for all who dine here
You must try our won ton noodle soup, with delicious shrimp & pork dumplings. Soup is good for the soul and this one would be great for yours
Simple, yet elegant. Our roast duck over rice is a popular favorite. Don't you know? Duck meat is almost as fatty as pork meat, with all dark meat which means more flavor! Try the citrus dipping sauce for even better taste sensations. Fried rice can be substituted for $1.
Our beef in oyster sauce over rice has crunchy snow peas, carrots & mushrooms, with tender oyster sauce dowsed beef. Fried rice can also be substituted for $1.
I would be amiss not to have my friends go w/o complimentary dessert - warm tapioca. Mmm, mmm! Not too sweet, and the warmth is quite reassuring after a hearty meal.
A fair amount of seating for groups, small & large. A private area is by the entrance for large groups in need of a more intimate dining atmosphere. Service is good, with the staff attending to whatever requests you need. Parking is right outside, with more spaces available in the Royal Garden parking structure.
We have great lunch specials, with soup & fried rice, starting at $6.25!
Come, come. You must drop by & have some authentic Chinese food in...
Read moreI have been at this location multiple times (BBQ take out side) and the service has always been awful. A little disclosure, this restaurant has two sides, one a sit down area restaurant and in the back there is a separate take out section, same kitchen for both sides. This review is for the take out section only.
Here's the most recent experience. The lunch items were minimal, hardly any of the steam trays have any food in them. The deli side is ok, I've seen better selection in Westminster and Garden Grove. I ordered one of the lunch special combos, the serving was plentiful because they were emptying the steam trays, so I got the leftovers.
Time to pay, mind you the two Chinese guys in front of me paid by credit card, I was told cash only when I handed mine. On the way out, there was a piece of roasted pork that caught my attention so I asked how much is it for the piece, the person behind the counter said, minimum 1 pound. I left.
The food was mediocre at best. The fried rice was mushy (you'd think they will have this perfected.) The dish was bland. The free egg drop soup was borderline 3rd graders' homemade adhesive glue, too much cornstarch slurry not enough eggs dropping.
If you're in the area, this place is great because the only competition is the 99 Ranch Market for some quick Chinese deli. As for me, coming from The OC, there are...
Read moreThis is so sad. We really loved the food in this restaurant and go here regularly. However recently, we ordered to go and just happened to pass by their kitchen. The kitchen door that opens to the side of the parking lot is usually closed but at that time was open because somebody was cleaning. I get disgusted when restaurants start cleaning their kitchen using heavy chemicals when the kitchen is still open for orders, and if the whole kitchen is easily seen in the dining area and people could smell any cleaning chemicals you pour there while eating. It's dangerous, and unappetizing. In Sam Woo's case, the kitchen is well hidden from the dining area, and people inside won't smell the cleaning agents used while eating. However, the people outside who are still coming in, and passing by could smell the very strong odors that their cleaning staff was pouring. My hubby even saw cooked Peking duck hanging there right by the cleaning staff who was working, and he also saw a waitstaff preparing something to bring out to the dining area while the cleaning staff was working next to him. Then to top it off, as I passed by, there were at least 2 flies that flew out of the door from the kitchen. Though we love how their food tastes, that will be the very last time we're gonna get food...
